REVIEW: DC Universe Presents #0

Or – “Their Stories Continue, Even If Their Books Tanked…”

Many years ago, I came to the sad conclusion that my favorite titles won’t ever be big sellers with the general public.  Because of that sad paradigm, it came to be that I was reading and enjoying roughly 60% of the cancelled product of the New 52 thus far.  Although I didn’t read much beyond the first issue of Blackhawks, I appreciated their pedigree, and I have to say that it’s good to see O.M.A.C., Mister Terrific and Deadman again.  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

Oh, and Hawk & Dove are also in this issue.

REVIEW: Justice League Dark #9

Or – “It Can’t Rain All The Time…”

After the threat of the Enchantress and the vampire war, John Constantine’s team is short a few members and facing a greater threat than ever.  Will a little new blood (both figuratively and literally) get things back on track?

NEW 52 REVIEW: DC Universe Presents #1

Or – “Have Y’Ever Noticed How Deadman Looks A Lot Like Daredevil?”

Daredevil’s second costume is ridiculously similar to Deadman’s: Short boot cuffs, short gloves, red bodysuit, big D symbol on the chest.  (I suppose Daredevil is technically a Double-D, but…

Y’know, there’s no good way for that sentence to have ended.)  Either way, the new DCU wouldn’t be the same without Boston Brand and his body-hopping exploits.  But what does the new status quo bring our favorite ghostly presence?

TELEVISION: Deadman headed to the small screen

According to Deadline, DC’s Deadman is headed to the small screen.

The project is about the spirit of a murdered man, Boston Brand, who lives on as he inhabits other people’s bodies and helps them solve crises in their own lives.

With Smallville off the air, it’s understandable that The CW and Warner Bros. TV is scrambling to find a superhero franchise to replace the ten-season long show. But Deadman?  Surely they could have found something like Teen Titans, Nightwing, or Birds of Prey… okay, so maybe not that last one…

With Supernatural still a big hit (going into its seventh season), Deadman might actually be a natural fit for the network.

Check out Deadman variant figure

Mattel has unveiled a few new shots of the chase variant Deadman action figure from the DC Universe Classics wave 11 collection.  The ghostly figure of Boston Brand has semi-transparent hands and feet that glow in the dark.  If you’re going to scare the crap out of your young one, this figure just might do the trick.

Take the jump for the unpackaged figure!

Advanced Review: Hexed #2

Swimming around inside of a dead guy is really the least of your problems

It’s been a couple months since I had the opportunity to review Hexed #1 from Boom! Studios.  I was so thrilled with how the first issue kicked off, I couldn’t wait for the second to arrive.  Hexed #2 hits stores this week, and continues the thrill ride set in a world of magic.
