REVIEW: Stormwatch #0

Or – “I Just Hope It’s Better Than The First Stormwatch #0…”

I have fallen behind in most of my comics reading over the summer, as reality has knocked a hole in what I laughing refer to as my spare time.  Worse than that, I can’t remember anything that happened in Stormwatch since about issue #4.  Hopefully that won’t damage my enjoyment of this #0 flashback issue, ’cause your Major Spoilers review awaits!

WATCH: Robot Chicken DC Special clip on Conan

Seth Green was on the Conan show last night and the talking eventually landed on Green’s Cartoon Network show, Robot Chicken. Green showed a clip of the Robot Chicken DC Special that kicks off the shows sixth season, and, of course, Aquaman is the focal point of the joke.

The DC Special airs on Sunday at midnight, or is it Saturday’s midnight? The whole midnight thing confuses me. What you want to do is not go to sleep while it’s still Saturday, that will ensure you can watch this.

TOYS: DC Collectibles reveals newest Green Lantern figure

Simon Baz officially made his appearance this week in Green Lantern #0 and it seems that DC is betting on him being a popular character for they have announced he will soon have his own figure. Take the jump for the first image!

REVIEW: Worlds’ Finest #0

Or – “Before The New 52!”

With the return of the concept of Earth-2, an alternate Earth with alternate versions of characters we know, we’ve seen a resurgence of Power Girl and the Huntress, both of whom deserve another turn in the spotlight.  But, what about the events that brought them to our world?  That’s what DC brought us Zero Month for, and your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Phantom Lady #1

Or – “Not Entirely What I Had Expected…”

One of the earliest female heroes of the Golden Age of Comics, Phantom Lady is usually notable for being (in Rodrigo’s words) “nakeder” than many other super-heroes.  Now, she’s back on her feet in the post-Flashpoint New 52, and her origin story is about to be told.  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Voodoo #12 (of 12)

Or – “A Book That Really Surprised Me…”

I have to admit, of all the original Image Comics properties, WildCATs was the one that seemed to have the most potential (even if the name was pretty awful.)  When I heard that Voodoo would be one of the core titles of the New 52, opinions around Gatekeeper Hobbies were that it wouldn’t make six issues.  12 months on, I’m still surprised…  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Captain Atom #12 (of 12)

Or – “The Circle Of Influence = The Circle Of Life.”

Captain Atom first appeared way back in 1960 and has changed costumes, powers and even publishers over the ensuring 5 decades.  Perhaps his biggest claim to fame, though, is in being the inspiration for the character of Doctor Manhattan, the quantum-powered being central to the story in ‘Watchmen.’  Interestingly, in this New 52 incarnation, Cap is clearly being reverse-influenced by what Moore and Gibbons did with the good Doctor, making for an interestingly circuitous reading experience.  Your Major Spoilers review of the final (regular) issue awaits!

REVIEW: Resurrection Man #12 (of 12)

Or – “Nobody Promised Mitchell Shelley Forever…”

The return of Resurrection Man as part of the New 52 last fall was one of the pleasant surprises of the relaunch for me.  As a fan of the character’s original 1990′s incarnation, it always seemed a shame that only the Body Doubles survived the book’s cancellation, and that only through the power of sexy-sexy times.  Now, Mitch Shelley again finds himself at the end of the road, but how does one kill what cannot die?  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Justice League International #12 (of 12)

Or – “Is It An Ending, Or A New Beginning?”

Justice League International has been a strange title since the inception of the “international” squad in 1988 or so.  This book has lived in the shadow of the Big Seven (or, as some call it “Big Six plus Cyborg”) title in the New 52, and now the team has suffered a major setback and a team death.  Can they pull it together, or is there no hope for a real U.N. super-team?  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!
