REVIEW: Legion Of Super-Heroes #3

Or – “All This Fuss Over Absorbency Boy???”

The resurgence of the Legion has it’s positives and it’s opportunities for me, not the least of which comes in the form of Earth-Man, the buzzcut neo-Nazi xenophobic schmuck who has dominated the first two issues of the series. His utilization in the Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes arc of Action Comics worked well, but out of that context, he’s just an annoyance, and provides a twenty-somethingth or other member of a team that’s already full to bursting with people I might care about. Will this issue continue the trend, or can we get some Legion in our Legion?

DC’s Dark Secret

We posted the Ivan Reis black and white version of this image yesterday, and today The Source releases the image color.  Now is the time to really see what is going to happen over the next year, and as I mentioned yesterday, it looks like many of the things undone, retconned, and redone in Blackest Night/Brightest Day may be going through a major change.

Art Appreciation Moment of the Day: Ivan Reis – A hint of things to come from DC Comics

DC made a big splash with their mega-sized teaser images that hint at story lines to come.  Ivan Reis provides the pencils, it’s up to you to provide the speculation.

I see a dead Aquaman, so that must mean Mera did something right…Of course it is odd that everything that has been built up over the last year appears to be undone in the near future.

I understand the full color image will appear in this week’s DC titles.

SDCC’10: Check out the over the top packaging for Starro

If there is one action figure package I want from SDCC’10, it has got to be the Starro mega-pack that features a bendable Starro (that I hear can fit over your own face for crazy hijinks) and five action figures that pay homage to The Brave and the Bold #28.

While this figures themselves are going to rock in only the way that Mattel can serve up, it’s the packaging itself that might have many needing to buy two – one for the figures, the other for the awesome Kevin Conroy recording that is just a button push away.

Batman: The Brave and The Bold Batmobile arrives this month

Hot Wheels has announced that the Brave and the Bold Batmobile is set to arrive in stores at the end of the month, which is just around the same time as a rather big comic book convention in San Diego, California.  I bet if you look hard enough at the show you’ll be able to find one…

Action Figure Review – DC Origins: Series 1: Nightwing

Whilst browsing around my local comic book shop today, I saw an action figure set I just had to have: a pair of Nightwing figures, featuring both the modern and original designs. What can I say? Disco Nightwing is just that awesome. So I eagerly made my purchase, and upon getting the set home an idea dawned on me: why not write a quick review of it for Major Spoilers?

Review: Justice Society Of America #40

Or – “Time, Time, Time Is On My Side… Yes, It Is!”

Continuing our Major Spoilers Star-Spangled Weekend™!  Y’know, in the 21st century, it’s hard to think of Nazis as a realistic villain.  They’re so far away from their context that someone in a their paraphernalia seems as anachronistic and silly as a pirate or a cowboy or a knight.  Still, for many of the members of the JSA, World War II doesn’t seem all that long ago, and the threads of the National Socialist Party run deep.  Is the future of the Fourth Reich set in stone, or can Mister Terrific’s hail mary pass really save the members of the JSA from their worst loss ever and decades of torture?  I kinda hope so…
