Long time Spoilerite, Julian took it upon himself to do everything that he could to enter (and probably win) the Major Spoilers New Frontier Contest. Julian went to the San Diego Comic Con and got his picture taken with everyone from Eric Powell to Jeff Smith. Julian sent in nine (9) entries, and if the rest of you don’t step up and enter before August 31, 2011, he’s going to walk away with a really, really nice prize.

REVIEW: Flashpoint #4
Or – “The Oncoming Storm…”
So, with all the talk about what’s coming in September, how many people forgot that we still had a ways to go in order to get there?
REVIEW: Wonder Woman #613
Or – “They Don’t Call It ‘The Odyssey’ For Nothin’…”
On the plus side, the revamped Wonder Woman arc has been better than the hysterical nay-sayers cried that it might have been before they saw it. (I wonder if there’s a larger lesson there?) 13 issues in, is the story living up to the hype?
REVIEW: Justice League Of America #59
Or – “Before The New Comes In, We Have To Out With The Old…”
After 30-odd years as a comic reader, I’ve come to the realization that there’s a sad truth about a Justice League of America comic book: There is NO way to win.
Either you’re damned for including the “boring” Big Seven characters, or you’re damned for NOT including the “bankable” Big Seven characters. Either way the story suffers from the same nay-sayers who argue, alternately, “I don’t know why anybody would care about these people” and “We know nothing can change because everyone has to be alive in their own title.” It’s a Catch-22 unmatched by any other title (though LSH and Avengers suffer from similar issues regarding their respective core three characters) and it has killed many a JLA lineup in the shell. As we wind down the last days of the DCU as we know it, a JLA featuring Superman’s cousin, Batman’s ward, Wonder Woman’s half-sister, The Flash’s rival’s daughter, Green Lantern’s baby girl, an oddly-colored alien unrelated to but functionally similar to the Martian Manhunter and a gorilla much like the one who waltzed with Aquaman that one time, James Robinson tries to split the difference… But does the halfway approach work?
SDCC’11: DC – The New 52 (Thursday)
![]()
DC is hosting a New 52 panel each and every day of the show. I half expect each session to be much of the same, but because of room size, and the fact that nearly everyone is talking about it, there might be a few nuggets of new information each day. We’ve scoured the Intardwebz, and here’s what we know so far…
SDCC’11: DC Direct

As much as I love comic books, its the merchandise that gets me to dig deep into my pockets. The DC Direct panel just wrapped, we scoured the Intardwebz, and here is what we know…

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have unleashed the trailer for Gotham City Imposters.
Gotham City Impostors gives players the opportunity to rebel against conformity as they customize their own characters. Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains, gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customization options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons. The game will feature maps and modes inspired by DC Comics’ Batman license.
TOYS: LEGO teaser video for LEGO SUPER HEROES
I’m still surprised by the DC/Marvel/LEGO news, and while we don’t have images of the minifigure line yet, LEGO did send us a teaser video for the line.

I only wish I had done this review yesterday, if only to get the creepy Gary Busey eyes out of the rotating slide more quickly…
