Review: Army of Darkness #20

An American Chosen One in London

aod20picon.jpg

Ash is off to the Land of Fish and Chips in hopes of finding a fellow Chosen One, but ends up finding something else altogether.  While the Evil Dead made it look like Ashley stumbled upon the Necronomicon, the connection between Chosen One and Book of Evil goes back much further than that, to a time when a band of heroes fought side by side to bring down the forces of evil.  Sounds exciting doesn’t it?

Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Deep Cover Sneak Peek

Here are a few more clips from this week’s parallel spanning universe Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Deep Cover featuring Batman taking on the Crime Syndicate.

When parallel worlds collide, Batman swaps places with Owlman–his criminal counterpart in an alternate universe–to stop the Crime Syndicate from taking over their world. Crime fighters in one world must battle their evil counterparts in a crime spree melee. Meanwhile back on Earth, Owlman has been perpetrating crimes disguised as Batman and assembled all the villains to join him. When Batman returns, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law and hunted by Green Lantern, Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Red Tornado and Plastic Man. Its a strange twist of fate that leaves Batman with only one option – to team up with Joker and take Owlman and the Crime Syndicate down!

Major Spoilers Costume Contest 2008: Meet the Entrants

picon01.jpg

Oh boy, did we get a lot of people entering the second annual Major Spoilers Costume Contest.  There were over 50 entries from 20 entrants (yes, some people entered multiple times).  Personally, I think all those who entered the contest deserve kudos for taking the time to make their costume and sending it out for the world to see.  You can tell some of the entrants spent a great deal of time on their costumes, and really get into their work.

Without further ado, take the jump to see all the entrants for this year’s contest.

UPDATE:  Voting is now open!

Hero History: Magno

Or – “The Kind Of Heroism That Doesn’t Require Super-Powers.”

During the 5o years of Legion operations, many heroes have come and gone, and a great many of them have had limited tenures with the team…  But it should be noted that one of the least tenured Legionnaires, the boy called Ferro Lad, even to this day casts one of the longest shadows.  But few Legionnaires have had the deck stacked against them the way today’s Hero History subject has.  Even his own team leader had trouble seeing him as anything but a replacement Cosmic Boy, but he did everything in his power to change that assessment, and went through a series of setbacks and trials that forced him to redefine the kind of contribution that he could make.  Always upbeat, even in the face of tragedy, he helped to define the rebooted Legion as a separate entity from it’s Pre-Crisis counterpart.  This, then, is your Major Spoilers Hero History of Dirk Magz of Braal…  Magno!
