This past Friday, I received an email that caught not only my attention, but also many others who go to New York Comic Con, arguably the most-attended comics convention each year.
I’ve really been fuming lately over the stranglehold Diamond has over comics distribution in the United States. For instance, if you want to put a great superhero book out, if you’re not part of the “bigger” companies, they’ll flat-out reject your series, no matter how good it is. “Too many superhero books,” they say, as I’ve heard from several Indie comics creators. Well, maybe someone’s finally doing something about it!
During this past weekend’s Wizard World Columbus, I ended up part of a conversation that got me thinking about fans and why we don’t always support the characters we love.

If you were part of the annual Masquerade Ball at the San Diego Comic Con (either as a contestant or a member of the audience) you saw some EXCELLENT cosplayers. Comic-Con International released a rundown of all the winners from the event.
The lucky few in Hall H yesterday were able to see footage for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The rest of us will wait until tomorrow to see the full trailer, but today we can watch a 15 second teaser!
We learned yesterday that Guardians of the Galaxy would get a sequel and that James Gunn was already attached to write and direct, and now, right at the end of Marvel’s Hall H panel, the release date was announced.
Marvel had Ant-man’s helmet on display at their booth for most of the day today and it looks fantastic! Get a nice look at it and listen to Paul Rudd and company be interviewed at the booth.
Even though Tom Hardy is no longer playing Bane, he hasn’t stop getting love at Comic Con. Mad Max has had buzz around it all weekend, maybe that is due to the four different posters that have been revealed so far for the film.
