Seems to be a good week to hype movies and stuff, as Columbia Pictures has released more still images from the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man movie.
It didn’t take Sony long to find Sam Raimi’s replacement to direct the next Spider-Man film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marc Webb will be helming the next installment of the franchise. According to the article, Webb will use the Jamie Vanderbilt script, which caused Raimi to exit the project and “will look and feel very different from the big movies that went before it.” The company will also be scaling down the budget of the flick to the $80 million range and feature a cast of unknowns.
That doesn’t sound good, does it?
On the plus side, it does look like the new film will be based more on the Ultimate Universe Spider-Man than the 616 Spidey.
Webb’s breakout film was (500) Days of Summer staring Zooey Deschanel.
Here’s some gravy to go along with the heaping helping of Ghost Rider 2 news we presented earlier – Marvel is developing a new Daredevil movie. Fortunately, instead of a sequel, this will be a reboot. Empire Online has no other information other than the fact that Ben Affleck won’t be involved in the project.
It’s odd that Marvel is going for a reboot of the Daredevil film when the director’s cut of the film was much better than the theatrical release. It’s certainly much better than the Ghost Rider film which Columbia seems to want to force down viewer’s throats. On the other hand, with Marvel trying to bring all its properties back in-house, rebooting the film (ala The Hulk) could do wonders for the crimson crime fighter.

It’s bad enough H’wood is actually making View-Master the movie, now Mattel’s most famous toy, Barbie is getting a feature, too. Universal Pictures won the rights to the live action treatment, with Laurence Mark, of Jerry Maguire fame, producing the flick.
Meanwhile, on Eternia…
He-Man got some sad news a couple of weeks ago, when Warner Bros. and Mattel parted ways, but the big galoot has stumbled his way into a new home at Columbia. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on which side of the paycheck your are sitting on, all of the previously prepared content has been scrapped. This means the script and all the pre-production will need to be rebuilt from the ground up, so hopefully Columbia knows what it is doing.
