While the Marvel banner hasn’t been around for 70 years (Marvel proper began in 1961, but Timely Publications goes all the way back to 1939), Marvel will host a 70th Anniversary celebration at comic book stores across the nation on August 11, 2009.Â Sounds like a good time, until the announcement that Marvel was sending creators and Marvel characters not to the LCS, but to Barnes & Noble book stores.Â That’s sure to cause some controversy among all the fun.
