Boom! Studios has released a super advanced preview of its upcoming Poe mini-series, and to get you interested in the series, that you can still order until May 26, 2009, the company sent us a 10 page preview for review.
One of the first pulp heroes I was introduced to as a wee lad was Lamont Cranston, The Shadow. I found this awesome 60′s retro styling of the crime fighter by Trisha Toms that I just had to share.

What Evil Lurks in the Hearts of Men??
The Shadow Knowwwws!!! HAHAHAHAHAA!
My brother’s favorite dude leaping over rooftops avoiding gunfire. Run Shadow!! Then turn and KILL THEM ALL!
This is the old pulp novel version. Of course he has the awesome color scheme and hero scarf.
Man I like him so much!
I like him too, Trish. Thanks for the awesome!

Readers shocked by Chris Giarrusso’s departure from Mini-Marvels will be pleased to learn he’s expanding his unique take on superheroes in this May’s G-MAN, VOL. 1: LEARNING TO FLY !
“Working Mini-Marvels was cool, but G-MAN, VOL. 1: LEARNING TO FLYÂ is what I’ve been wanting to do for years,” Giarrusso said. “It’s the story I was wanting to write and draw the entire time doing Mini-Marvels so I’m happy those fans are psyched by the collection. G-MAN and company are going to be taking up all my attention for the foreseeable future and I aim to make the long-time Mini-Marvels readers happy!”
G-MAN, VOL. 1: LEARNING TO FLYÂ collects the entirety of Giarrusso’s Comic Bits strips, showcasing his entire line up of all-ages friendly superheroes including G-Man, his mean brother Great Man and friends like Billy Demon, Tan Man & Spark! These strips set the stage for this fall’s G-MAN miniseries, giving fans old and new the chance to catch up. Also included is a full-length origin story, a G-Man Christmas tale and the complete acclaimed Mean Brother/Idiot Brother series.
G-MAN, VOL. 1: LEARNING TO FLY (MAR092415), a 96-page full color digest-sized softcover for $9.99, will be in stores May 20 2009.

I was super pleased with all the entries we received for the 2008 Major Spoilers Costume Contest. Since then, many of our contestents went on to enter costumes contests from “other” publishers. Allen Hansard entered with his Spider-Man costume, and won the Wizard Costume Contest and the YouTube Costume Contest as well.
His brother just dropped off a pic of Allen atop the Empire State Building.
Too Cool! Thanks for sending this pic our way Adam!
Take the jump to see Allen’s YouTube entry.

The battle between Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze just turned into an all out war. In an election year, one has to wonder why one if blue and one is red, and if the outcome of the election will in anyway be influenced by this issue…nah, I didn’t think so either.
Marvel was kind enough to send Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Ghost Rider #29.

Virgin Comics has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Blade of the Warrior: Kshatriya #1 that arrives in stores this week.

In addition to all the good stuff coming down the pipe (does good stuff really come down the pipe?), the Major Spoilers crew will be diving into DC’s Starman Omnibus.
The super-heroic legacy of Starman is renewed in these stories, in which Jack Knight — antiques collector and dealer — inherits the name and powers of his father’s old Starman identity from his older brother, who has been assassinated. Reluctantly adjusting to his role, Jack reinvents the look of Starman, ditching the traditional red and green in favor of black leather and aviator goggles. But Jack has inherited more than a heroic identity from his brother . . . he’s also gained a foe: the beautiful but mentally unbalanced Nash, daughter of the villain known as the Mist. Jack also must come to grips with The Shade, the morally ambiguous former villain who decides to become Jack’s mentor.
Post your comments about the first 16 issues here, and you might get your comments read during the Major Spoilers Podcast.

Hey Everybody!
I’m sorry for the obvious AD placed right here, but there comes a time in every person’s life, when it is time to give up a little something to keep something bigger and better (this site) going.
I’m clearing out space in the Major Spoilers Comic Book Room and am selling a huge portion of my Simpsons action figure collection.

To celebrate Dark Horse’s one year partnership with MySpace, the company is bringing back some of the key players who helped launch the online series.
Appearing in the coming months, look for a new Umbrella Academy short story by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bä, Joss Whedon and his older brother Zack step up with an exclusive tie in to Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog, and Tara McPherson offers up How to Heal a Broken Heart.
“Ever since the original DHP was canceled, I’ve been trying to bring it back, because I love anthologies, love the absolute liberty it gives you to try new things†says editor Scott Allie. “Hellboy Weird Tales was an attempt to rekindle that, The Dark Horse Books of Hauntings, etc., was also an attempt, but MDHP is the real thing. It gives us the flexibility to jazz around as much as we want to.†He continued, “with the sorts of creators we’re working with these days, it’s essential to have a place to do this. And with so many amazing people showing their stuff off online, it’s great to know that there’s something to throw their way as well.â€
Keep checking the Dark Horse Presents page for more original titles on the first Wednesday of every month.
Or – “The Fair Witch Project.”
The Legion of Super-Heroes covers a lot of different takes on heroism, but the one thing that they all seem to share is the affinity for science. From the “ultra-energy” that imbues Jo Nah, to Wildfire‘s transformation to pure antimatter, to the accident that empowered Lighting Lass and her brother, the vagaries of science (or at least the strange comic book version thereof) have served as the origin of many Legionnaires. Indeed, with the bright and shiny future setting, that’s as it should be. So today’s Historical subject is an anomaly from the get-go, holding the honor of being one of the only Legionnaires to start out as a villain, as well as being the first full-fledged magician in Legion history. She stood down with the most powerful creatures in the galaxy, matched up in courage with the greatest heroes the Legion has to offer, and did it with style and grace. This, then, is your Major Spoilers Hero History of Mysa Nal of Naltor… The White Witch.
