Zombies vs. Robots gets prose treatment, and Brea Grant, too

Press Release

IDW Publishing continues expanding its prose publishing activities with a two-month-long “e-singles” promotion featuring all-new stories set in the gleefully gory ZOMBIES VS. ROBOTS universe. The property was first published in 2006 as a two-issue mini-series from the creative team of artist Ashley Wood and writer/editor Chris Ryall. Helpless to resist ZVR’s rowdy mix of clunky, wise-cracking robots trying to stem the zombie apocalypse (the fault of clumsy scientists), with the remnants of mankind caught in the middle. There have been multiple ZVR miniseries, and in 2010, Sony Pictures optioned the film rights for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company.

Game Review: Neverwinter Campaign Setting

Raise your hand if you’ve played Neverwinter Nights for PC! I didn’t mean literally, put your hand down, you’re at work! You want your boss to see you?

Alright, that was close…

…Anyway Wizards of the Coast is apparently aware of all the love that game (by the now famous Bioware game studio) has garnered over the years. And so for the first time WoTC has dedicated a whole supplement detailing the Jewel of the North.

…which has been hit by a meteor.

Night of the Living Trekkies: The book trailer

The zombie invasion has penetrated the book market with mashups like Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies, and now the Star Trek universe gets some undead action with Night of the Living Trekkies.  While a book with no images may not sound that exciting, Quirk Books makes me want to run out and pick up the book with this trailer.

Actually, I take that back, I want to see this trailer turned into a full on movie – RIGHT NOW!

Carter Beats Pre-Pro Hell

One of my favorite books to be released in the last ten years is Glen David Gold’s Carter Beats the Devil.  It’s one of those pseudo-historical works of fiction that finds real life magician Charles Joseph Carter (Carter the Great) wrapped up in the murder of Warren G. Harding, the invention of television, and a rival that wants nothing less than Carter’s defeat.  If you haven’t read the book, it’s a great time to dig up a copy and enjoy the exploits. This is especially true now that Warner Bros. has reacquired the rights to the book that was once in pre-production at Paramount before it descended into Pre-Pro-Hell (PPH, not to be confused with the PCH, although once you’ve driven Highway 1 in L.A. at rush hour, the two are pretty much the same).

This time writer Michael Gilio will write the script with Jon Shestack, Ginny Brewer, and Jeremy Stein producing.  The only thing that makes me wonder if Carter will beat Pre-Pro Hell this time is the fact that we’ve already had two period magician movies come out in the last couple of years that didn’t come on like gangbusters, even though they ere acclaimed.
