Image Comics Scales Olympus This May

25 March 2009 (Berkeley, CA) – Image Comics, Nathan Edmondson and Christian Ward reveal the secret life of the gods through the eyes of the Brothers Gemini in OLYMPUS, an all-new full color ongoing series beginning this May!

“Christian Ward and I created OLYMPUS as a barrel of powder, and along came the good folks at Image with the match,” Edmondson said.  “To see our living vision presented to the world by such an excellent and widely-received publisher is an honor.”

OLYMPUS begins with the Brothers Gemini, 3,000 years after Zeus has granted them eternal life in exchange for eternal servitude,  hunting an exiled god, only to stumble upon a greater horror by accidentally releasing one of Hades’ most dangerous prisoners. The results explode as Edmondson and Ward expand the mythology of classic tales in a fresh, compelling visual style in an action-adventure driven series unlike any other out there.

OLYMPUS #1 (MAR092402), a 24-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores May 20th, 2009.

Image Comics and CBLDF Team to Defend Your Liberties.

20 March 2009 (Berkeley, CA) – At today’s ComicsPRO Annual Meeting, Image Comics announced plans to further expand its support of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, the comics’ industry’s first response in the fight against censorship.  Image will support the not-for-profit organization with a second installment of LIBERTY COMICS and will launch The CBLDF Liberty Series,* *a series of high-end variant covers featuring Image’s strongest titles with exclusive artwork not available anywhere else. All proceeds of both projects will go directly towards the Fund’s important defense of comics’ First Amendment rights.

Savage Dragon Free Comic Book Day Edition

12 December 2008 (Berkeley, CA) – On Free Comic Book Day 2009, fans will get an unprecedented chance to jump on board one of comics’ most legendary superhero series as Image Comics and creator Erik Larsen give away an entire issue of SAVAGE DRAGON!

Two Shadowline Titles Sell Out

11 December 2008 (Berkeley, CA) – Image Comics’ Shadowline is proud to announce two of their newest and most diverse debuts, SAVAGE and I HATE GALLANT GIRL, have completely sold-out at a distribution level.

“Shadowline’s steadfast commitment to diversity is what drives the entire imprint,” Shadowline Publisher Jim Valentino said. “Having two completely different titles reach a similar success simultaneously is a very important occasion for us and one we hope drives readers to future issues of these wonderful books.”

SAVAGE teams horror master Steve Niles with celebrated painted artist Mike Mayhew along with Dan Wickline and Jeff Frank to craft a hardcore thriller pitting werewolves against Bigfoot in an intense battle royale. On the other hand,  I HATE GALLANT GIRL, a runner-up in the Who Wants To Create A Superheroine Contest by writer Kat Cahill and artist Seth Damoose, takes a very different approach at the super-hero genre as a young woman rejected to be the world’s next Gallant Girl decides to take destiny into her own hands. Limited quantities of both issues may still be available at your local comic book store.

SAVAGE #2 (SEP082267) and I HATE GALLANT GIRL #2 (OCT082311), both 32-page full color comic books for $3.50, are in stores now.

Superheroes Invade Suburbs

26 November 2008 (Berkeley, CA) – This February, after over a year in the making,  Image Comics will debut JERSEY GODS, the superhero epic by THE GRAY AREA writer Glen Brunswick and DOCTOR WHO artist Dan McDaid.

“JERSEY GODS represents a lifetime spent dreaming of superheroes,” said Brunswick. “Ever since I was young, the seeds of what would become JERSEY GODS were kicking around. JERSEY GODS is to me what SAVAGE DRAGON is for Erik Larsen or INVINCIBLE is for Robert Kirkman – it’s the superhero series I want to tell without an end; one I hope will keep readers coming back for years and years to come. As originally previewed in Robert Kirkman’s INVINCIBLE, JERSEY GODS stars  Barock, a superhero from another planet, and Zoe, a high maintenance Jersey girl, soon after they’re married. However, it’s only a matter of time before Barock’s previous life threatens to tear their world apart. Each issue of JERSEY GODS features covers by some of comics hottest names, including MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS’s Mike Allred, DC: NEW FRONTIER’s Darwyn Cooke, HEAVY LIQUID’s Paul Pope and SAVAGE DRAGON’s Erik Larsen with many more to come. A limited-edition variant by McDaid is also available.

Amber Atoms Arrives at Image

20 November 2008 (Berkeley, CA) -  This February, after exploring the worlds of TELLOS, DOCTOR WHO, GREEN ARROW and JLA/JSA, artist Kelly Yates kicks off his very own
ongoing sci-fi adventure series, AMBER ATOMS!

“AMBER ATOMS comes from a deep rooted love of space faring sci-fi adventures, like STAR WARS and its own inspiration, the 1930s Flash Gordon serials,” said Yates. “Each issue fires off at as fast a clip as possible, with cliffhangers at every turn while still maintaining my favorite part of the book – Amber herself. AMBER ATOMS’ life on planet Madisomme is far from the exciting one she always dreamed of. Larsen Steps Down, Stephenson Moves Up

July 1 2008 (Berkeley, CA) – As announced at Wizard World Chicago this weekend, Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen is stepping down from his current position and will be replaced by Executive Director Eric Stephenson, effective immediately.
