This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast: Frozen warms the heart, Sleeper gets mixed results, and DC may be looking to make inexpensive superhero flicks.
Variety broke news last night that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are producing a comic book movie for Warner Bros.
Last week I talked about the hubbub resulting from Ben Affleck being chosen to play Batman/Bruce Wayne. Since then, Marvel Studios announced that actor James Spader had been selected to play Ultron in the second Avengers film. The outrage was, shall we say, silent by comparison.
I’ve been wondering what fans would have thought if, before Warner Bros. could sign Affleck to be Batman, he had been signed by Marvel to play Ultron instead. Ultfleck instead of Batfleck! Would the screaming have been as loud? In a word, the answer is clearly: No. Why is this?
So much has been discussed and announced about the coming Man of Steel 2/Superman vs Batman flick in the past week that one fan simply couldn’t wait for the first trailer and decided to create on their own, splicing together clips from Man of Steel and Ben Affleck and Bryan Cranston staring roles. It is certainly worth your time.
This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast: Peter goes to war, Batman in the house, and Itty Bitty Hellboy.
So, you may have heard something about Ben Affleck playing Batman in the next Man of Steel movie.
I’ve been following with interest the response to last week’s announcement that Ben Affleck will take over the movie role of Batman/Bruce Wayne from Christian Bale.
It’s time for me to weigh in on this latest comics-related controversy!
Jason Inmann saw the news about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, and has a few thoughts about that.
Breaking news out of H’wood tonight – Ben Affleck will play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, currently titled Superman vs. Batman.
This is confirmed as Warner Bros. made it official a short while ago.
“Man of Steel” actors Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are reprising their roles with Zack Snyder on board to direct.
How do you like them apples? Lately Affleck has been a star/director in his movies, and if he really is playing Batman, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a follow up announcement that he’ll also direct the Justice League movie as was rumored months ago.
Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman or Man of Steel II: Comic Geek Boogaloo is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2015.
Complete press release after the jump!
In a week that saw Michael Clarke Duncan and Neil Armstrong pass away, it seems only natural to watch Armageddon.
What happens when Marvel and DC crossover? Usually something big and bold. So how do you feel about Daredevil directing the Justice League movie?
Here’s some gravy to go along with the heaping helping of Ghost Rider 2 news we presented earlier – Marvel is developing a new Daredevil movie. Fortunately, instead of a sequel, this will be a reboot. Empire Online has no other information other than the fact that Ben Affleck won’t be involved in the project.
It’s odd that Marvel is going for a reboot of the Daredevil film when the director’s cut of the film was much better than the theatrical release. It’s certainly much better than the Ghost Rider film which Columbia seems to want to force down viewer’s throats. On the other hand, with Marvel trying to bring all its properties back in-house, rebooting the film (ala The Hulk) could do wonders for the crimson crime fighter.
