First Wave #1 — Can. Not. Wait.

I can’t wait to see what DC has in store for the first wave of heroes as they resurrect Doc Savage and crew and throw them in the world of 1939 Batman, the Spirit, Blackhawks and more, an it kicks off with the Batman/Doc Savage Special hitting in November.  I’ll be really curious to see how much on-going interaction Doc and Batman have with one another, and I’m wondering if DC will touch on Doc’s institute where they perform lobotomies on criminals, and if there will be a confrontation between any of the heroes. I’ll also be curious to see if DC somehow manages to get The Shadow in on all the action as well. There could very well be some interesting stories featuring Batman and The Shadow teaming and seeing the real parallels between the two characters and how The Shadow influenced the Bat.

Anyone else excited to see Doc Savage return to comics, or all you all too young to remember who he is?

Interview: Tim Daly on Superman

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies hit stores yesterday, and it has received plenty of positive reviews.  For most fans, Tim Daly patented the All-American trust within the voice of the title character for the landmark Superman: The Animated Series.

Beyond his 52 episodes and several movies as the voice of Superman, the Emmy nominated actor has had a prolific career on television as the star of numerous series, most recently continuing as Dr. Pete Wilder on ABC’s Private Practice and most notably for eight seasons as Joe Hackett on NBC’s Wings. The New York City native, who made his feature film debut in Barry Levinson’s 1982 classic Diner, has also had plum guest starring roles on The Sopranos and From The Earth To The Moon.

In Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime,” Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit help – to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

Daly found time away from the Private Practice set to answer a heroic number of questions regarding his longstanding connection with the Man of Steel. Read on …

Interview: Kevin Conroy

While the debate rages among fans over who might be the best live-action actor to play Batman, there is no such controversy when it comes to the voice of The Dark Knight – Kevin Conroy stands unchallenged for that title.

As the voice behind the landmark series Batman: The Animated Series, Conroy set a standard that has cast a wide shadow over any other actor attempting to fill the role for nearly two decades. Conroy once again dons the animated cowl for the September 29 Warner Home Video release of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.

Conroy’s acting career has covered a lengthy gamut of performances on stage and screen, including soap operas and television series like Dynasty and Tour of Duty. His first audition for an animated voiceover role was in 1991 when he arrived at Warner Bros. hoping to land some of the character roles on an upcoming series, and walked out as the title character of Batman: The Animated Series. As they say, the rest is a grand and glorious history for Batman fans across the nation.

So pleased with his return to the role is Conroy that he made his first appearance in six years at Comic-Con International this past summer to promote Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, and the crowd greeted their beloved Batman voice with multiple standing ovations. For those fans that couldn’t hear Conroy’s words in person, here’s the recap of a chat with the actor during that weekend …
