Propworx takes sci-fi auction online

We’ve covered numerous Propworx auctions over the last couple of years, and while we’ve never been able to get to one of these events to buy stuff for the Major Spoilers Nerd Room of Doom, we’ve always hoped there would be a way for us to participate in some way.  Propworx is answering the call by taking their auction to eBay with a plethora of items from Battlestar Galactica, Iron Man, Starship Troopers, Fantastic Four, Star Wars and more.

Just a sample of the amazing items:
• Stargate Atlantis Gate Room Stargate Segment
• Alien Queen Leg from “Aliens”
• Starship Troopers Hero Morita Rifle
• Master Replicas Star Wars Y-Wing
• Stargate SG-1 Jaffa Warrior Costume
• X-men 2 Jean Grey Maquette
• Iron Man Battle Damaged Mark III Torso Costume

If you want to get in on the action, you better get your stuff together before Sunday, February 27, 2011, ’cause that is when everything ends.

28 Days of Geek Giving: Signed Stormtrooper helmet

If there is one thing I’ve learned in all my years of hanging around die-hard pop culture and comic book fans is they love life sized merchandise, and they also love anything autographed by a number of stars and creators.  If you really want to impress the Star Wars fan in your life, own a bit of memorabilia, and help out a worthy cause, check out eFX Collectibles auction going on right now on eBay.

The signatures from the cast and crew of the original “Star Wars” Trilogy include George Lucas, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Frank Oz, James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels, Frank Oz, Kenny Baker, John Williams, Lawrence Kasdan, Peter Mayhew, Jeremy Bulloch, David Prowse and the late Irvin Kershner, director of “The Empire Strikes Back,” to whom the auction is dedicated.

“The helmet traveled more than 25,000 miles – from Southern California to Skywalker Ranch to London and New York and many places in between to be signed, and it’s an amazing sight to behold,” said Bryan Ono, president of eFX Inc., who spearheaded the efforts to collect the autographs.

The auction benefits the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and considering all the names on the helmet, this is going to be a highly sought after item.  And as the auction kicks off (a few moments ago), the bidding is already up to $5,100.00.

ME WANT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Eastman Collection

Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is selling off his entire personal collection of TMNT stuffs.  This isn’t a joke, you can head over to eBay right now and place a bid on everything.

The Turtles’ were catapulted into pop culture history in the 1990’s and their likenesses were licensed to a massive range of children’s merchandise; from Pez dispensers and skis to breakfast cereal, video games, school supplies, linens, towels, cameras, and even toy shaving and fishing kits. Since the very beginning Kevin has collected one of each item and now he’s offering this one of a kind ginormous collection of them to the ultimate green fan. Many of these boxes haven’t been opened in 20 years – just imagine the rare treasures inside!

But that’s not all! Kevin’s offering also includes an original Jim Henson’s Creature Shop made Leonardo costume from the first TMNT movie (1990), video tape archives of most of the original TMNT cartoons, and some original licensing artwork used in the creation of many of those wacky toys, merchandise, and comics.

All these goodies, spanning 25 years of archiving, have been protected and stored untouched in the turtles Northampton warehouse, and except for a few that show age appropriate wear and tear (like the movie costume) everything is sold as is.

These collectibles will be shipped anywhere in the United States by freight liner from Northampton, Massachusetts (home of the Turtles), and arrangements can be made for up to 250 (of the thousands) of the official TMNT contents to be signed by Kevin if the buyer would like. Each of the storage boxes has been signed (with a head sketch) by Kevin Eastman as proof of their authenticity and provenance.

The bidding starts at $50,000 and at least one person has already bid on the lot, however, the reserve has not been met, which means the selling price could be much higher.  Man… I really wish I would win the PowerBall Jackpot this weekend.

ME WANT: Own the Doctor’s TARDIS

Of all the time travel television shows made, Doctor Who ranks up there as one of my favorites. As a wee lad, I had a chance to see the actual TARDIS  in person when it went on tour in the U.S.  Now the Tardis used by the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston for those keeping score) is going on the auction block next week (June 23, 2010), and could fetch between 8,000 and 12,000 Euros.

A complete Tardis prop, circa 2005, of painted rasped wood panel and glass construction, the base having painted parquet effect floor, panels fastening using bracket and bolt, having a pair of hinged doors, on with Yale® lock, with windows to doors and signage to front, top section of Tardis with removable ‘Police Box’ signs, interior of Tardis roof with a number of miniature lights, and further interior lighting, the roof with removable lamp to top, height approximately 10ft

It would be awesome to own this thing, but $10 to $20,000 is a lot to spend for a prop. Then there is the shipping fee, and storage costs that make me wishing I had won the lottery a few weeks ago.
