If you are looking to build an army of Minimates for your heroes to fight, check out the upcoming army builder set from the Captain America: The First Avenger collection. Art Asylum isn’t showing off all of the figures, but they do give us a good idea of what kind baddies will be “pew-pew-pew-ing” it out with the good guys in the coming months.
If you are a fan of Art Asylum’s Minimates, but are wondering how you can transport and store your favorite figures, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum have you covered with the Minimate storage case. Those who follow Diamond Select Toys closely knew this case was on the way based on a Q&A posting from earlier this year.
DSTChuck: Jonathan you would be surprised how many kids email us or send notes in. We have looked at doing some sort of carry case. I loved them back in the 70’s. Seems they are just too expensive to make anymore (like the great old playsets) but we’ve got a couple ideas we’re working on and I’d be surprised if we did not get something out for the end of this year or early next.
There’s no word on price or release date just yet, but it looks like you’ll be able to carry around 18 of your favorite figures wherever you go. Of course if you have a crap ton of Minimates like I do, you’re probably already storing them in a giant plastic bin.
I’m still strangely drawn to Art Asylum’s Minimates, and though I’ve avoided the temptation to buy them recently, the upcoming Captain America Through the Ages collection just might drag me back in. The four figure collection features Steve Rogers in various costumes from his years of exposure to comic book fans. The set includes World War II, Suspended Animation, Armored, and Reborn costumes.
According to the company, the Captain America Through the Ages collection will be a Toys R Us exclusive set.
When it comes to action figures, there are a few things I want done really well – excellent points of articulation, great sculpt with lots of detail, and something something scaled to size to fit with the other action figures in the line. When it comes to Art Asylum’s Juggernaut figure for the Marvel Select line, I think all my expectations are going to be fulfilled.
Hold on. Why do they always say that about the Juggernaut? I mean, am I wrong or do they not find a way to stop him EVERY TIME? Seems to me he gets stopped on a regular basis. Oh well, who cares as long as he romps and stomps right up until the stoppage? Whether he’s on the side of evil or good, everyone loves to see Cain Marko destroy anything in his path. Our good friends at Gentle Giant have been itching to see Juggy added to the Marvel Select line, especially if they got to do the sculpting, so here you go. Colors are brought to you by Eddie Wires…
