SPAWN, the long-running superhero saga recently relaunched by series creator Todd McFarlane and fellow Image Founder Whilce Portacio, kicks off the second half of its series altering storyline ‘Endgame’ with a distribution-level sell out making way for the upcoming collection.
“Our goal is to slowly build up momentum and the sellout of issue #191 is another indication that we’re accomplishing that goal,” McFarlane said. “With a majority of our single issues out of print, the release of the first Endgame collection couldn’t be more timely.”

Wendy and Richard Pini have teamed up with Warner Bros. to bring their long running indie comic Elfquest to the silver screen. The film will be written by Rawson Thurber, who will also direct and produce.
The original comic, which the Pinis initially self-published starting in 1978, followed a tribe of elves known as the Wolfriders in their attempts to survive and link with other dispersed elves on an Earth-like planet with two moons while on the lookout for tribes of humans and trolls, both of which acted as allies and enemies.
There have been multiple attampts to make the series a movie in the past and all have fallen through. Interestingly, no format has been determined yet, meaning this could be live action, 3D CG, or 2D animated.
Red 5 Comics has sent Major Spoilers the cover images and solicitation information for titles shipping in August 2008. This month features the return of my favorite Red 5 Comics characters – Atomic Robo!

Do we really need another zombie tale set in the Marvel Universe? According to Fred Van Lente, the answer is yes. In the next installment, one of the zombies escapes from zombie world and stumbles into Marvel 616 territory, thus making Marvel Zombies an in continuity title.
“Marvel Zombies 3†will focus on a different group of zombies than Kirkman and Phillips’ books. “This is partly because ‘MZ3’ is set in a very specific period of ‘MZ’ continuity,†Van Lente explained. “For fear of giving away too much, I’m going to tell you when, exactly. But let’s just say the pursuit of sweet, sweet human flesh makes for some odd allies.â€
The four issue mini-series will debut in October. I don’t know about you, but the zombie genre has overstayed its welcome.
