The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that three more actors have joined the cast of Disney’s adaptation of John Carter of Mars. Samantha Morton will play Sola, the daughter of Tarks Tarkas (played by Willem Defoe), Dominic West has been cast a Sab Than, the prince of the Zodangans, while Polly Walker plays Sarkoja, a Thark baddie. DC’s Captain Marvel has been turned over to Bill Birch and Geoff Johns to get the screenplay treatment for a future film.Â This is a movie that has been passed around from writer to writer for seven years before Johns and Birch were tapped to co-write their take on the kid-turned-hero-when-magic-phrase-is-uttered story.Â No planned release date of actors have been named for this attempt at the film. via THR
For those who were very upset over the news that 20th Century Fox was booting the voice cast of Futurama off the show for money reasons, have released a statement that said the entire voice cast; John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille will return for the next season. “We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back,” creators Matt Groening and David X. Lloyd Levin, the producer behind Watchmen, has nabbed the rights to Terry Moore’s Echo comic book series. “Echo” tells the story ofÂ a photographer who is preoccupied with her personal problems until she gets doused by liquid metal from a military experiment gone awry. She discovers she can now harness the power of a nuclear bomb, and soon the military wants its walking weapon. Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett are the first actors to sign to star in the update/remake/reimagining of Walt Disney’s Tron 2.0 movie. The new movie is acting as a “next chapter.” Plot details are being guarded closely, but Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film. Garrett will play a siren in the virtual world. The main lead actor has not been cast, although it is surprising that Jeff Bridges isn’t involved in some way. via THR
