If you do that creator join up thing down the road I say, make it about the Major Spoilers League of Uninspired Gentleman (and one girl)
See, we make it about Comptroller, Popcultro, and Dungeon Master putting out a Wanted ad in the Classifieds for new heroes to join the league. Slowly, but surely, the acquire the company of IMD-boy, Adjudicator, Voice Over, POSTER-CHILD, and the sole member with two X chromosomes, Cosplay Girl. They then proceed to have a grand ol’ time fighting evil and struggling to find their place in a world that needs heroes.
I smell sitcom!
(this was discussed in the comments here for those who don’t know: http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/20481.htm/#comments)
And Bronco’s comment at the end now proves that I know what the people want!
More Goon trades, says I!
JUSTICEEEEEEE! Lol! Cool podcast as usual, can’t wait for the next critical hit by the way.
Have you guys read the last Cry (bitching and moaning) for Justice? It finally happened, the series is dead to me after a comment for Hal made Kara cry, I found it so insulting to both characters.
Her father died in front of her, her mother is basicaly a benevolant dictator, she killed Lois’s sister but still soldiers up and fights the good fight and then a rude comment by Green Lantern hurts her feelings to point of crying!? And since when does Hal pick on 16 year old girls anyway? It didn’t help that they had the whole “we are looking for justice, because justice is good and justice, justice, justice, etc.” dialogue right after…
Folks, Traveller is a classic RPG set a bit over 10,000 years from now when humanity has reached the stars and found… ourselves! Sometime in our ancient past, aliens took groups of humans from different cultures and seeded them among the stars. In Traveller, the people of Earth have met their long lost kins’ Empires, as well as aliens based on elevated (humanoid, created by the same alien proginators) canine and feline races. One threatening (misunderstood and feared) human empire is based on humans who worked to develope their psychic potential.
In Traveller, you have a jump drive system that can take you so many light years per jump, all other flight is slower than light. There are ruins of ancient alien civilizations with advanced tech, trades, criminal cartels, wars, and more. Some planets have gone with a monarchy, others are part of an empire, and each version of Traveller is set in a different time.
GDW published the first version, then advanced the timeline for the 2nd edition known as Megatraveller. Their last version (before TSR’s lawsuits drove them to bankruptcy over Gary Gygax’s Dangerous Journeys game) was Traveller: The New Era where a sentient computer virus could be electronically transmitted to a ship and take it over. The setting picked up 75 years after the “virus” was created, used as a weapon, and mutated to wipe out known order.
Since GDW went under, several companies have published Traveller game books, usually set in the original timeline. I still prefer GDW’s version as they gave you the tools and options to design your own technology and gear for your own setting. “Fire, Fusion, & Steel” was a book that explained tech levels and assumptions, and gave you options to make your own vehicles, weapons, gear, FTL travel, psy enchancers, and robots. There was a boxed set covering fleet stellar combat named “Brillant Lances”. The core book was nice and thick in an age (mid 90s) that TSR sold several thinner books.
Ah, I miss you GDW. From Twilight: 2000 2.2 to Traveller: TNE and 2300 AD, you had me at hello.
