Awesome LEGO creation: Han Solo in Carbonite

Anyone who’s been to LEGOLand knows that there are some great LEGO creations out there.  For Star Wars fans, this near life sized interpretation of Han Solo frozen in carbonite by Nathan Sawaya, takes the cake.

Wanting do a Star Wars model, and also wanting to do something never been done before (to my knowledge), I decided to make Han Solo frozen in carbonite. Life size. It took about 10,000 bricks, almost all dark gray, and about three months of on and off building. I built the sculpture so it can break down easily into smaller parts, thus making it mobile. Because, like most people, I like to take large sculptures of people frozen in carbonite with me whenever I travel.

Speedy Gonzales: The Movie

Looney Tunes character, Speedy Gonzales, is headed to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Known as the fastest mouse in all of Mexico, Speedy debuted in the 1950s as a regular nemesis of Sylvester the Cat. Friz Freleng and Hawley Pratt’s 1955 Warner Bros. short about the tiny hero, “Speedy Gonzales,” won the Academy Award for best short subject, cartoons that year. Pat Boone even wrote a hit song about the famous mouse in 1962.

George Lopez will provide the voice for the New Line movie.  Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow are writing the script, with Jerry Weintraub, Tracy Ryerson, and Jill Arthur producing.

Thankfully, this will not be the racist Speedy Gonzales character from the 1950s, but a modern take on the character, which means we (hopefully) won’t see characters like Slowpoke Rodriguez.

Here’s some cool news; Batman: The Brave and the Bold is getting the video game treatment thanks to Warner Bros. Wednesday Sing-Along: Kirsten Dunst cosplays for McG

Director McG created a music video for the Tate Gallery’s Pop Life exhibit by Takashi Murakami who is showcasing the otaku phenomenon in Japan.

Otaku (plural noun)
In Japan) young people who are highly skilled in or obsessed with computer technology to the detriment of their social skills.

The Akihabara Majokko Princess video features Kirsten Dunst strutting around the streets of Akihabara (a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, and otaku goods) singing a cover of The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese”. Even though many people still believe the song is about masturbation, you won’t find any of that going on in the video (although there is a NSFW component or two in the video).

McG is a great music video director, and it shows in this slickly produced music video.
