Press Release
It’s a celebration of comics, and Derby City Comic Con is giving back to its namesake city through an auction held at the event. Derby City Comic Con is proud to announce the first recipient: The Library Foundation.
The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote, encourage and enhance the programs and services of the Louisville Free Public Library. The funds donated by the Derby City Comic Con will be earmarked to buy graphic novels for the Library.
“The graphic novel is highly popular among Louisville Free Public Library readers,” says Mary Hunt, director of The Library Foundation. “We are honored and excited that the Derby City Comic Con has chosen the Library Foundation as one of the recipients of the proceeds of its auction, and we look forward to helping the library build its graphic novels collection.”
Auction items will be donated by artists, small presses and vendors exhibiting at Derby City Comic Con.
Derby City Comic Con will take place Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville. Admission is $7 for adults and free for children under 12 with a paid adult admission. For more information and updates on dealers, artists and guests, please visit www.derbycitycomiccon.com.
