There is a lot of interest in the Magic: The Gathering comic book scheduled to ship next week from IDW Publishing, as each issue contains an exclusive playable card.  For those who were ready to line up at their comic book store next week, you’re going to have to wait a little longer. According to ICv2, the first issue apparently had some printing challenges, and now the issue is scheduled to ship on February 1, 2012.  All other issues will continue to arrive monthly and on schedule (we hope). via ICv2

Jon Finkel may have the last word when it comes to who is worth your time or not.  Wizards of the Coast has announced that Jon Finkel will compete in a three day tournament and donate all his winnings to charity. Recently, Finkel announced via twitter that he plans to donate his winnings from this weekend’s tournament in Philadelphia to the newly-formed Gamers Helping Gamers, a charity that provides college scholarship and mentoring programs to members of the Magic: The Gathering community. The announcement of Modern as a format for the Community Cup sent quite the buzz through the Magic community. Presumably due to the success of the format in the Cup and the vastly positive buzz formed around it not only allowed them to turn it into a legal format, but update the next Pro Tour(PT Philadelphia) from Extended to Modern.
