The last time we talked with Wes Molebash he did say everything was cool with Viper Comics, but I thought it strange he had started his own You’ll Have That website seperate from Viper.  Wes himself sent us an e-mail yesterday breaking the news of the split. I have recently decided to part ways with my publisher, Viper Comics, in favor of self-publishing my comic strip.  Today, Sept. 1, marks the first day that my comic will be exclusively published online at www.yhtcomic.com!  I’m really excited about this move toward self-publishing, and I’ve got several things in the works for…

The very popular Diesel Sweeties webcomic has announced it is ending its newspaper run in mid-August. This is my decision, I wasn’t fired, I don’t regret it and I’m not gonna blame anyone. No dissing Garfield. I am “crazy amounts of” looking forward to being my own CEO again. There will be nary a bump in schedule for the main webcomic. Health and time issues aside, I’m surprised the series lasted as long in the papers as it did.  Diesel Sweeties does so much better on the web than it could ever do in the local newspaper read by the…

To celebrate Zuda Comics one year anniversary, each comic, nominated by Zuda readers will return for all new comics. “One of the most frequent things we hear from readers through e-mail, at conventions, in the blog and in the message boards is a sincere desire for a comic that didn’t win a competition to continue in some way,” says Ron Perazza, DC Comics Director of Creative Services, “Now we have the answer – the Zuda Comics 2008 Invitational.

Another comic publisher is looking to the web to attract new readers as AAM/Markosia has announced it has formed a new web comic division, and will feature Baby Boomers and Digging for Apples as its two kick-off titles. “I am extremely excited by these two new properties,” says publisher Harry Markos. “They are in complete contrast to anything we’ve ever done before. ‘Baby Boomers’ is hilarious, I can only describe it as ‘two babies beating the crap out of each other when their parents aren’t looking!’ ‘Digging For Apples’ is our first foray into Manga — something I have been…

The webcomics collective site The Chemistry Set is moving from the Interwebs to the bookstores when it brings the anthology series, No Formula: Stories from the Chemistry, to print in August. “There’s no better way to celebrate our Terrible Twos than with a big release like this,” said Jim Dougan, an original ChemSetter approached by Desperado publisher Joe Pruett to edit the anthology. “The only problem was choosing from among the literally hundreds of pages of great comics we’ve got on the site. Joe wanted only self-contained stories, though, so while that unfortunately left out a lot of great stuff,…

I don’t know why so many people hate what Ryan and Lar are doing over at Least I Could Do.  This week, Rayne took his niece to a comic convention and ran into a couple of guys… Yeah, you’ll have to go to the site to see the rest of the strip. The payoff is pretty typical for the strip – juvenile humor… but really, is there anything better? via Least I Could Do

Another month is upon us, which can only mean it is time for Zuda Comics to roll out another monthly contest pitting web cartoonist against web cartoonist in a no-holds death match…to the death! Actually, it is a little more civilized than that. Instead of giving the artists shivs and having them fight it out while we chant the fight theme from Star Trek, readers are encouraged to vote for their favorite series over at the Zuda Comics website (www.zudacomics.com). Take the jump for the rundown of this month’s entrants.

Way back in the closing days of the 20th century, Matthew and I attended college together. It was a grand old time, full of happiness, carefree days, and really bad jokes. There were of course other people that we met during our college years, including one Mr. Otter. Otter has discovered the joy of Bitstrips; conjuring up a short strip based on a joke one of our old professors would throw out during class to get a laugh. Otter would be the one with the Weird Al doo, with Matthew appearing as the sorry receiver of the joke.via Otter Disaster
