He has the most recognizable face in the west, and now Warner Bros. Pictures has announced it will bring Jonah Hex to the big screen in an adaptation by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. “Hex” first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of “All-Star Western” before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements. I…Can…Not…Wait! The New Frontier animated movie is set for direct-to-DVD release in February, and the New York Times posted an image from the movie in an article about the film. Mr. Cooke recalled another phone call, this time with Bruce Timm, a producer, writer and director on many of the animated cartoons featuring DC’s heroes. “Bruce said: ‘I told them not to make this! This is at least two DVDs!’ ” Mr. Cooke said.

Spacey hopes to shoot his Luthor role in a six-week block, as he did on “Superman Returns,” after he completes his run in David Mamet’s “Speed the Plow” in April. When Warner Bros. dropped the ball and lost the rights to the Conan film franchise, New Line stepped up to score the rights to Robert E. Howard’s creation. After posting a bid of mid-six against seven figures for an 18-month option with one extension, the studio entered into negotiations after CAA staged an auction for rights holder Paradox Entertainment.
