Browsing: Warner Bros.

I would think we’ve all had enough Terminator films, comics, and television shows, but apparently Warner Bros. thinks otherwise, as they prepare to relaunch the Terminator franchise. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is an attempt to “reinvent the cyborg saga” that will be told over three films being written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris. The producers said that the new film will carry the size and scale of “Terminator 3,” and will have an event-sized budget. It will likely be less than the $200 million pricetag of “Terminator 3,” which was saddled with extravagant costs that included above the…

The CW has announced it will shut down the Kids’ WB! franchise a the end of the season and turn everything over to 4Kids Entertainment. Under the five-year pact, 4Kids will program five hours of children’s programming between 7 a.m. and noon on Saturdays on the CW starting September 2008. 4Kids will handle all national commercial advertising, and will share in ad revenue with the CW. The CW’s share will be applied against a guarantee 4Kids will pay the net. One of the biggest reasons for the drop? It’s too hard to compete with 24-hour cable networks, and selling advertising…

IGN has an interesting summary of articles that highlight the potential problems plaguing the George Miller helmed JLA flick. The biggest is the possibility the Writers Guild Association may not wait until next year to go on strike with the actors and directors, but instead may stage a walkout beginning October 31. It is quite possible high profile films like JLA and Transformers, to name a few, could be in the sites of the WGA as a way to cripple the film studios into giving in to demands. Considering the JLA film has yet to see a final green-lit script,…

Variety is reporting Jessica Biel is in talks to play the Amazonian Warrior in the Justice League of America film.  Guess this means yesterday’s rumor is just another rumor. But what of Superman, Batman, the Flash, and Aquaman? …the film’s likelihood hinges on the studio’s ability to assemble a cast of superheroes in a small window of time. Christian Bale and Brandon Routh — Warner’s reigning Batman and Superman, respectively — are not expected to join the production. Instead of announcing the roles as they are cast, the studio will announce the entire cast at once. So for now, guess…

Variety had a small tid-bit saying Beatrice Rosen and Joshua Harto have joined the cast of The Dark Knight. There is no info at this time on the parts they are playing, although Harto could be a rather convincing Jimmy Olsen if they were looking to inject some World’s Finest into the flick. via Variety

Moviehole.net is reporting that actress Victoria Hill has auditioned for the role of Wonder Woman in the George Miller helmed Justice League of America. Hill’s surfing a wave of victory at the moment – she starred in, co-wrote and produced Geoffrey Wright’s “Macbeth” and followed that up with roles in the recent Aussie films “BoyTown”, “Hunt Angels” and “December Boys”. The actress, who is now represented by UTA in the states, is not only beautiful but she’s insanely talented too – so I’m sure if she did get the gig to play ‘Wonder Woman’, fans wouldn’t be picketing. To be…

Variety is reporting the Street Fighter videogame is set to make another appearance on the silver screen. One would think the horrible failure that was the Jean-Claude Van Damme Street Fighter (1994) would be a hint to proceed cautiously with any other film in the franchise. Instead of following te Jean Claude character, this script, penned by Justin Marks focuses on female fighter Chun Li on a campaign for justice. Justin Marks is also penning the Voltron movie for New Regency, Super Max and He-Man for Warner Bros. Street Fighter is set to go into production in 2008 with 20th…
