If you have a ton of free time, a passion for Star Wars, you have a machine shop that can go to town on metal, and a knowledge of circuitry, you may be able to make your own Lightsaber.  Bradley Lewis documented his process of building his own saber at Slothfurnace.com and the results are nothing short of amazing.
