Game Review: Dead Space 2

So, you’re walking down the blood covered hallway of a children’s daycare when suddenly the lights go out and your dead girlfriend starts whispering “twinkle twinkle little star” in your ear. The gun in your hand only has one charge left, and all you want is to make it to the next checkpoint or provisions stash, but then a necromorphed infant crawl from a box next to you and laughs, its explosive stomach ready to burst. You jump back and use your telekinesis to grab whatever you can to throw at the little abomination, a basketball. The baby goes limp…

The third Marvel vs. Capcom movie is on the way, and the full trailer for the videogame has arrived on the Intardwebz.  While the characters appearing in the game are probably not a big surprise, the Galactus reveal should make for some interesting gameplay.

GAME REVIEW: Little Big Planet 2

Since its initial release, Little Big Planet has amassed a sizable fan-base and nestled itself as one of the cornerstone PS3 exclusives. Now I should probably mention that I haven’t played the first Little Big Planet, or any PS3 exclusive for that matter. It’s not that I’m anti-PS3 or anything; I just never got around to buying the system. Still haven’t. In fact, this review is being done on a friend’s borrowed console, but maybe that means I have the advantage in reviewing this game; my being completely ignorant of any fan-boy preconceptions means that I’ll be free to write…

REVIEW: Back to the Future: The Game

It seems most movie games exist only as a ploy to milk consumers for every cent they’re worth. Timing is crucial for these games, because their sales die with the associated movie’s hype. As a result, fans end up with a lackluster product that leaves them feeling betrayed and full of gamer rage. In the last few years though, the gaming community has seen a rise of “fan-service” games that do the movies and the characters justice. These games include Batman: Arkham Asylum, Ghostbusters: The Videogame, and Transformers: The War for Cybertron.  Now, Telltale Games, creators of the Sam &…

OPINION: No Such Thing as a Role-Playing Video Game

A few weeks ago I reviewed Fable III for the Rootin’ Tootin’ MSP. Not being insecure at all, I posted my intent to review the game on Twitter the day before to see what others had to say about it. Reaction varied, some people hadn’t played it but were looking forward to it, others had given it a spin and were enjoying it, but one comment in particular really surprised me. “cool, just make sure you don’t call it an ‘RPG’.”

Back to the Future gets new video game, and concept art

I’ve been trying to track down details about this announcement for a week or so, but to no avail.  What we do know is Telltale Games is in the process of cooking up a brand new Back to the Future videogame to be released this Winter. USA Today had the first image design, and while it looks  tad disturbing, if the entire game looks like this, I’d be okay with it. As for the storyline, Telltale would confirm that the games would include an appearance of the DeLorean time machine and, the fictional California setting of Hill Valley. The time…
