In addition to Major Spoilers and the hundreds of other things I do throughout the week, I also host a weekly podcast – The Coolness Roundup: The Tech Show for Everyone!  My gizo-obsessed friend Charlie White and I have been doing this podcast for well over a year and a half and we are super excited to be on “the bird”. In this week’s episode, we’ll be talking about the Goats and Gods of 2006, picking out the great and the not-so-great companies and products from that wild and woolly year of 2006. If you love the pulp magazines from yesteryear, and are also a conisuer of fine pin-up work, then head over to the Website at the End of the Universe and download the free 2007 calendar. Decades before Princess Leia ever wore her metal bikini in Return of the Jedi, women frequently modeled fine metallic swimwear on the covers of pulp science fiction magazines to excite the imaginations of impressionable, young readers. This calendar does not have secular holidays or events on it, but rather features the birthdays of different sci-fi authors, editors, and artists.  I’ve already downloaded mine! via Website…

Josh Howard has been pretty busy during this holiday season. First he posted image after image of Sci-Fi and comic related women at his site (they rock by the way), now he has posted a three page preview of The Lost Book of Eve. Art wise, it looks very good. There is no dialogue, so I have no idea how good the story is. Check the preview pages out for yourself over at Josh’s site. via Josh Howard (link)

It’s pretty obvious I’ve become a Josh Howard fan over the last six months. I dig his art style, and think his writing skills have matured to the point where he is really developing a strong storyline with Dead@17. Over the next couple of months, we’ll see Howard release Eve, and Sasquatch, but what if he were to draw Batgirl? Head over to Josh’s blog site to see the full version. I wonder if he’d sell it to me for cheap? (grin). via Josh Howard (link)

Not much info on this new project by Dead@17 creator Josh Howard, other than this cool looking image. I love how companies spin it when someone is ousted from a company.  In the case of Wizard Entertainment, they claim staffing changes have been made with Editor-in-Chief Pat McCallum parting ways with the company. How nice of them to spin it that way.  In a nutshell McCallum, a founding member of the magazine, was let go, fired, deep-sixed, or whatever other word you want to use to tell the tale. According to Wizard president and COO Fred Pierce, “In an effort to grow the company and evolve with our customers, Wizard has made a number of aggressive changes over…

I found this out late yesterday and didn’t have a chance to post it until now. Dave Cockrum passed away this weekend. The 63 year old Cockrum is best known for co-creating the New X-Men with Les Wein to include Storm, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. Clifford Meth let the comic world know in a post on the Nightcrawlers forum. With a heavy heart, I regret to inform you that Dave Cockrum passed away this morning. After a long battle with Diabetes and its varied complications, Dave died in his sleep early this morning. Dave’s many creations—including some of the X-Men’s staple…
