Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand sneak peek proves the Ultimate Universe will never be the same… AGAIN!
We know that the Ultimate Universe isn’t coming to an end (thanks a lot Major Spoilers – jeez), but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out the sneak peek of Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand #5.
It looks like Marvel isn’t ready to let go of the Ultimate Universe just yet – even though Galactus and his appetite made it look like it was all over. Marvel has announced it will rebrand the Ultimate Universe to Ultimate Marvel NOW! beginning in April, and will launch three titles that pick up where Cataclysm left off.
Marvel sent forth a sneak peek of what may be the ultimate ending to Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand that arrives in January.
Last week I talked about the hubbub resulting from Ben Affleck being chosen to play Batman/Bruce Wayne. Since then, Marvel Studios announced that actor James Spader had been selected to play Ultron in the second Avengers film. The outrage was, shall we say, silent by comparison. I’ve been wondering what fans would have thought if, before Warner Bros. could sign Affleck to be Batman, he had been signed by Marvel to play Ultron instead. Ultfleck instead of Batfleck! Would the screaming have been as loud? In a word, the answer is clearly: No. Why is this?
For the last couple of days, rumor has spread like wildfire across the Intardwebz that Marvel is considering a big crossover between the 616 Universe and the Ultimate Universe (Universe 1610), with the ultimate outcome (see what I did there) being the closure/end of the Ultimate line of print comics. Brian Michael Bendis, the guy that has been helming the U-Universe, and doing a dang find job of it (save for that horrible Loeb debacle), says this isn’t what is happening. But that got us wondering anyway… VOTE!
