For the first time in history, the Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) TRANSFORMERS brand is inviting fans of all ages around the globe to help create a new TRANSFORMERS character that will be forever added to the TRANSFORMERS world. In anticipation of the TRANSFORMERS’ brand 30th anniversary in 2014, the “Fan Built Bot” Poll kicks off today, and will run through May 5th on TRANSFORMERS.com/vote. Hasbro invites fans to vote daily to shape this new TRANSFORMERS character. The new character will be made into an action figure featured in the “Thrilling 30” line of toys to celebrate the anniversary.
During a recent evening of television, the Widget and I took in an episode of Transformers, during which she asked me which ones were the Democrats and which the Aristocats. This was quite possibly the funniest thing I had heard all day (and, it should be noted, that this was a day during which I burped while using voice text and laughed for half an hour as my Android dutifully spelled out “burp” in my tweet.) IDW Limited announced its plan today to offer a deluxe limited edition of TRANSFORMERS: Art of the Fall of Cybertron. Based on the TRANSFORMERS brand from Hasbro, the book is a collection of the art and set descriptions for the smash-hit videogame of the same name, produced by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. The limited-edition book will be offered in a special IDW Red Label edition complete with slipcase, new cover and a portfolio of 10 limited-edition lithographs.
Inspired by the new TRANSFORMERS PRIME ‘BEAST HUNTERS’ story, the KRE-O TRANSFORMERS line from Hasbro in 2013 features re-imagined AUTOBOT characters and new PREDACONS, in brick and KREON form, based on the award winning animated series from Hasbro Studios.
IDW’s TRANSFORMERS SPOTLIGHT series focuses on the individual lives of the Autobots and Decepticons, often taking place before the war that tears their homeworld of Cybertron apart. IDW Limited announced its plan today to begin “rolling out” a series of TRANSFORMERS deluxe hardcover books (http://idwlimited.com/series/transformers.html) starting with TRANSFORMERS: The IDW Collection, Volume 1. This first TRANSFORMERS title from IDW Limited sets the tone for what’s to come by tapping six key TRANSFORMERS artists and writers to provide signatures and original artwork. With a second volume already in development, IDW Limited is letting TRANSFORMERS fans know they’ll have plenty to be excited about in coming months.
