KICKSTARTER: The Goon Animated Movie seeks fan funding

For years we’ve seen the Goon animated movie trailer floating around the Intardwebz with the hopes that Eric Powell’s characters would finally get H’wood money to make the movie a reality.  Well, H’wood isn’t going to fork over the funds, so Blur Studio, Powell, David Fincher, and Dark Horse Comics are headed to Kickstarter to get the project off the ground.

On the Next Major Spoilers Podcast: The Goon: Chinatown

This week, on the Major Spoilers Podcast, we finally get around to reading what some have claimed to be the best Goon story ever.

The Goon – Chinatown and the Mystery of Mr. Wicker
Dark Horse is very proud to present the first original graphic novel from Eisner Award-winning creator Eric Powell. Powell has been sowing the seeds of Chinatown and the Mystery of Mr. Wicker for years in his bimonthly series The Goon, and salivating fans may now feast their eyes on the Goon’s formative backstory of love, loss, and extortion – a lengthy tale that demanded to be told in this uninterrupted format. Spiritual leader of Tennessee and hero to the Great Unwashed, Powell escaped catastrophic death and mother-shaming scandal to bring this work to fruition. He’s a sensitive man in insensitive times. But be warned: This book ain’t funny.

SDCC’10: See all the Goon footage for yourself

The other day, Major Spoilers showed you the trailer to the Goon short that was shown at the San Diego Comic Con.  Today, we bring you everything shown to the fans gathered at the show.

The new footage is a longer clip created by Blur Studios to showcase the project, which is based on Eric Powell’s celebrated Dark Horse Comics series and produced by award-winning filmmaker David Fincher. “The Goon” team is looking for a studio to snatch up the project and finance production, and after seeing the footage here it probably won’t be long until that happens.

Clancy Brown voices The Goon, with Paul Giamatti voicing Franky.
