If you are the San Mateo, California area, and can get the Public Television Station KCSM, you might want to check out Cartoonist: Jeff Smith, Bone and the Changing Face of Comics. THE CARTOONIST tells the inspiring story of Jeff Smith’s creation of the epic comic book, BONE, hailed by critics as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. Fellow cartoonists Scott McCloud, Colleen Doran, Harvey Pekar, Paul Pope and Terry Moore, and others share their stories of this worldwide phenomenon that began in small comics hobby shops and is now found in the homes of millions of…
If you’re wondering what Russell T. Davies has been up to since leaving Doctor Who, the answer comes all the way from H’wood, as creator has moved to Los Angeles to develop a U.S. version of the Torchwood series for Fox Television. While I’ve seen many U.S. series based on international programming tank, the fact the Davies is on board might mean this series works. Also rumored are the reports that Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) might just star in the pilot. Whether or not he would continue in an ongoing series is unknown, but with a more global approach…
The CW has released one more trailer for the upcoming Smallville: Absolute Justice made for TV movie, airing February 5, 2010. The big highlight is seeing Hawkman’s visor in action, and all “trophy” case in the JSA headquarters. There’s also the promo poster, that you can see after the jump.
This probably slipped past many people’s radar as the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers series ended its long run with episode 700. Last weekend after 700 episodes and 17 seasons, the long-running Power Ranger series came to an end. The karate-miming, putty-patroller-beating group reached massive highs with toy sales and ratings in childrens’ television, and also terrible lows with the tragic and dark crime that involved a past child star. I never got into the series myself, as giant transforming robots seemed to have already been played out. What did make sense about the initial American series was Amy Jo Johnson.…
Matthew and I are giddy over the upcoming conclusion to the Doctor Who – The End of Time event, and we’ll be giving a complete review/commentary over the last three episodes of the David Tennant run on an upcoming Major Spoilers Podcast. Until then, enjoy this sneak peek of Doctor Who – The End of Time Part 2.
Kicking off the New Year with a special double-dose of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, General Grievous emerges from the shadows to stir up trouble for the Jedi heroes, ensnaring them in a trap that threatens their mission and their lives. It’s a deadly game – and the scheming Separatist cyborg doesn’t plan on playing by the rules! It’s a full hour of all-new CLONE WARS thrills, beginning with “Grievous Intrigue,†at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, January 1 on Cartoon Network. And the intergalactic action continues with a clone showdown in “The Deserter,†pitting brother against brother in a battle…
Nick Cannon is getting ready to start a Josie and the Pussycats project, that will take him and Atlantic Records around the world looking for three girls who can sing (and probably look good in a pussycat outfit, too) to resurrect the band based on the Archie Comics characters. If all goes the way Cannon hopes it will, we could see a reality competition series, and a scripted comedy-drama that will air on the TeenNick channel. I’ll let you take a moment to organize your thoughts, then feel free to jump into the comment section and let your thoughts be…
ABC has finally confirmed that FlashForward and V will both return to the network in March 2010 to finish out their seasons. FlashForward will begin anew on March 4, 2010, with V picking back up on March 30, 2010. V is moving to a new time slot immediately follow Lost, which should pick up a few more viewers thanks to the carryover. via ABC
There’s a brand new superhero show out of England called Misfits, and after watching the pilot, it looks like it could be the next Heroes. The series follows a gang of five young oddballs serving community service orders who, after being caught in a freak electrical storm, find themselves saddled with strange superpowers. Check out the first 10 minutes here, then head over to YouTube for the rest. via YouTube
A bunch of sites found these images over the holiday weekend, but it looks like most are attributing the source to Entertainment Weekly, so we’ll go with that. If you were wondering what some of the other characters from the upcoming Smallville: Absolute Justice were going to look like, here you go: Gotta say, I’m loving the Doctor Fate costume, and Stargirl doesn’t look half bad either. And for those who are desperately searching for more Hawkman images, here’s a bonus shot. via Entertainment Weekly
The good news for V fans is the series looks to have found its following, as the final installment of the alien invasion series was able to match last week’s viewership of 9.2 million viewers. While ABC’s publicity machine won’t confirm the show’s return in the Spring, the teaser spot at the episode’s conclusion should keep everyone’s hopes up. via THR
Looks like someone else is taking a cue from Marvel and their quick hit teasers… I will admit last week’s Clone Wars episode was a particularly creepy one, and the previews I’ve seen for this week bring the “zombie” infection to the Republic.
Marvel sent Major Spoilers a video bio of The Falcon from The Super Hero Squad Show currently running on Cartoon Network. Falcon Falcon flies with wings made of “hard light†(a solid type of hologram). He’s upgraded them with Stark-built “feathers†that shoot out as projectiles. Falcon communicates telepathically with birds, particularly his pet falcon REDWING. He can even “see†through their eyes, which comes in handy when the team needs recon. The original adrenaline junkie, Falcon loves anything that moves fast, flies high or causes severe motion sickness. Passionate and optimistic at 17, he’s a born hot-dogger who’s finally…
