When I talk with people who work in the comics industry, I’ll often ask them where they think we’re going. Will we end up all digital all the time? No digital at all? A mix? Honestly, nobody knows at this point. Well, one of my very favorite comics is back, this time as a comic strip. And I couldn’t be happier!
Press Release Combined into one, double-sized colossal issue, Nexus 101 and 102 will togetherÂ bring our series “Soap Opera” to its final conclusion.Â Publisher Steve Rude says, “Considering the inordinate expanse of time that has passed since the release of our last issue, fans expectations will be singularly high.Â Let’s see if Baron and Rude can deliver the final goods.” Both issues are done through color so the release is on schedule and on time!!
This past weekend, Steve Rude sent out an update on the status of his Nexus series. Nexus 101 is completed and Nexus 102 is awaiting a final script.Â Pencils are completed.Â Once the inks are completed the book will go into solicitation.Â At this point we anticipate being able to give all the solicitation information to Diamond in January which would be for March Previews and a May release date. It’s been forever since we read and reviewed Nexus 100, and now May can’t come fast enough. via Steve Rude
If you’ve been waiting for the 100 issue of Nexus, you’ll have to wait a little while later. Everything that could possibly go wrong with the production and publication of the long awaited Nexus 100 has. We announced 2 weeks ago that the print run was unacceptable and the printer, was reprinting the run. The 56-page Nexus 100 should now arrive in stores on February 27, 2008. via Steve Rude
Steve Rude is set to release 13 Variant covers to his upcoming book Steve Rude: Artist in Motion. Thirteen covers doesn’t sound like a big deal until you realize there are only going to be 13 copies published, with 12 for sale to the public. What makes the covers so special? Each cover is a unique original watercolor bound to the book. Prices aren’t cheap, each book will range between $300 and $500 depending on the artwork inside. Rude Dude Productions has announced Nexus 100 will be delayed. Instead of the original release date, Nexus 100 will arrive in January. The company says it is delaying the issue so it can ship three issues in a row without delay. It doesn’t say what happens in March when the three issues have shipped. Steve Rude let us know that his new book “Draw Nexus Tips and Techniques” is now available for pre-sale on his website. The book is filled with tips on figure construction, figure drawing, as well as how to draw heads and interiors. Also included in the 100 page book are model sheets on the entire cast. Steve Rude announced today the formation of Rude Dude Productions, LLC. Rude Dude will publish Nexus and the Moth. The ground-breaking, award-winning Nexus first appeared on Capital Comics in 1981. The story of a cosmic avenger driven by dreams of mass murder captured the imagination of the comic-reading public throughout the eighties. Dark Horse recently released hard-bound volumes of the first twenty-four issues in their prestigious “Archives” editions. Mike Baron will script, Steve Rude will draw and Gary Martin will ink.
