Division 18 Returns in TPB

tpb_cvr_front_picon.jpg

Silent Devil has announced it will collect the Matt Bergin and Jeremy Donelson mini-series Division 18: The Union of Novelty Costumed Performers in trade paperback this fall.

“Wait, did the other two issues ever arrive in the stores?”

That is correct, after the release of the first issue, “circumstances” prevented the other two issues from being printed, thus the collected trade of the entire series.

The new Division 18: The Union of Novelty Costumed Performers collection includes the popular debut, “Five Hunnies”; two new full-length stories, “White Collar Crooks” and “The Union Files”; and bonus content such as an annotated “History of Da’ Union,” which chronicles the genesis of Jimmy the Snake, Fat Louie, and the rest of the crew. The trade also features the print debut of Josh Adams, youngest son of legendary artist Neal Adams.

Minions of Ka Trailer

Check out this trailer for the upcoming 128-page graphic novel Minions of Ka being put out by Silent Devil Productions and Arcana Studios in late August/early September.

Does that voice sound familiar?  That’s Danny Aiello.

“This is a very exciting, innovative project,” said co-creator/writer Michael Furno, “I think people are going to be very surprised when they see the things we’re doing. It’s a fresh new look on zombies. We create a whole new world by challenging a lot of preconceived notions. I think people are going to be blown away.”

Dracula vs. King Arthur: The Role Playing Game

DVKA4Front_Cover.jpgYes, you read that title correctly, the Silent Devil graphic novel is being turned into a d20 role-playing supplement using the Dungeons and Dragons system.

D&D players will thrill to the campaign set in Arthur’s Camelot and specialized weaponry to combat the vampire menace. Other players can actually take up the mantle of a vampire knight and try and extinguish the hope of humanity forever!

THe game called Vampires vs. Knights is being developed by Tony DiGerolamo.

“Adam Beranek, one of the co-creators of DvKA, and I are thrilled Tony agreed to write the game based on our concept,” says screenwriter/graphic novelist Christian Beranek. “Fans will be able to create their own characters and adventures — there are going to be many awesome battles between knights and vampires for years to come.”

It should be noted that Christian Beranek also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Dracula vs. King Arthur movie. The game will be in stores in the Spring of 2009, and you can catch a demo of the game at select conventions between now and then.

Silent Devil Sneak Peek: Astronaut Dad

astronautdadpicon.jpg

Silent Devil has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek at its forthcoming 2-part graphic novel “Astronaut Dad”. Written by David Hopkins with art by Brent Schoonover, Astronaut Dad follows three NASA families during the early days of the space program.

“This is one project I couldn’t turn down,” says Silent Devil co-founder Christian Beranek. “David Hopkins has done great work with SD before on Antigone and Brent’s artwork is amazing. This series represents the future of the medium, being that original graphic novels are quickly becoming a widely embraced form of mass communication.”

This sneak peek comes on the heels of the company announcing it was moving into a new direction.

“Although our new focus is on film, tv and other media, Silent Devil was always known in the past as a publisher,” says co-founder Adam Beranek. “Astronaut Dad is a book we believe in and we’re happy to be on board — as they say, the engines are prepped and ready to launch!”

Astronaut Dad will be available in October.

Death and the Man That Would Not Die

“When the man comes around”

deathandthemanpicon.jpg

For some reason growing up I despised everything western. Don’t know if it was the cheesy dialogue, lame getups, or having to sit through the Searchers in film class while Matthew and I pointed out all the stereotypes present. In the last several years, I’ve come to appreciate the Man with No Name, the Seven Samurai Magnificent Seven, Once Upon a Time in the West, and even some of the more recent looks at the genre, like the awesome HBO series Deadwood. So when I was sent a preview of Death and the Man That Would Not Die, I was excited and gun shy at the same time.

Johnny Delgado is Dead

Don’t worry this isn’t the next installment of Captain America. Kompany X is teaming up with Chamber Six to create Johnny Delgado is Dead: The Ballad. The first issue will be available at Comic-Con International on July 26, 2007.

According to Kompany X, JOHNNY DELGADO IS DEAD: THE BALLAD centers on two childhood friends who are bound by the code of brotherhood, loyalty… and fate. Closer than brothers, one is destined to be murdered, and one is destined for a legendary revenge.

“I have always been very drawn to the classic myths of the Latino communities. For many generations, the myths and legends of the Latino people have been told and retold in corridos, songs that kept alive their culture and their heroes.” Says John Leekley, “It seems that in every era, there were those who were ‘chosen’… heroes who rose up and defended the rights of the innocent and brought justice to the guilty. I have always been drawn to these ballads. I was introduced to them by a friend of mine, Edward James Olmos, years ago. Now I am working with Eddie’s son, Michael, to bring to life a new legend…JOHNNY DELGADO IS DEAD: THE BALLAD.”

Johnny Delgado is Dead: The Ballad will be distributed by Silent Devil.
