FCBD: Scott Johnson and Frogpants to give away free prints

Press Release

Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May when comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores and it is coming up soon on May 4th.

It is a pretty cool event and so the Frogpants Store is going to take part this year.  Here is the deal—come to the Frogpants Store on May 4 and front and center you are going to find a Free Comic Book Day listing.

Add it to your cart and enter the code FREECOMIC and BOOM! We will ship you a random 4×6 print signed by Scott for absolutely free!  Not one thin dime.  Not even one coin with a hole in the middle if you happen to live in Canada.  This is not buy one get one free.  Not gift with purchase.  Just flat out freebies.

If you do see something else you like the code will also give you 15% off anything in the store but that is totally optional. If you just want the print and nothing else?  Still free.

One day only, this Saturday. Come on down!  And if you’d like to check out a local store too you can find one near you on the Free Comic Book Day site.

NERDTACULAR’11 – You can join in, too

Even though you may not be able to attend Nerdtacular 11 in Salt Lake City, Utah this year, that doesn’t mean you can get in on some of the action.  The day long mini-convention is being streamed live (or at least a portion of it) for your enjoyment.

Major Spoilers is once again a sponsor for this year’s event, and most of the Critical Hit crew is here as well.

Scott Johnson, organizer, founder, and leader of the Frogpants Network, sent along a quick note to let readers know where they can tune in.

Nerdtacular 2011: Major Spoilers to sponsor Frogpants event for 2011

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Nerdtacular 2011 is just around the corner, and once again Major Spoilers is a proud sponsor of the event that brings like minded fans of fun together for one big event.

Nerdtacular started in 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah as a way to celebrate the local Extralife / Frogpants Studios community, renting out a movie theater and watching a nerdy blockbuster together.

While Nerdtacular has grown more and more each year, and nearly just as many people come from outside of Utah that come from wihtin, the core purpose remains the same: Good fun with good friends.

Major Spoilers has been a proud sponsor of Nerdtacular since 2008, and we are happy to team up with Scott Johnson again!  This year looks to be bigger and better than ever, so take the jump for the schedule, and then buy your tickets for the June 17, 2011 event, and meet a lot of great people!

Scott had a few moments in his busy schedule to chat with us about the upcoming project.

Art Appreciation Moment of the Day: Scott Johnson

Long time friend of the site Scott Johnson has not had an entry in the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day, and it’s time to correct that.  If you haven’t been following Scott’s morning doodles (get your mind out of the gutter Peterson!), then you are missing out on some creative work he’s been doing to warm up in the morning.  Scott has done some comic styled work in the past, but his Evil entry had me curious – is this an evil mad scientist, or Jean-Luc Picard years down the road?

The Next 56 Project Begins

zombiehitler.jpg

Good friend of the site, Scott Johnson from MyExtraLife.com has kicked off a brand new project.  What’s better than 56 Geeks?  How about 56 Zombies?

I got started on “56 Zombies” last night. Ultimately, this will be a complete poster sized photo print chock full of zombies of note. Keep your eye on this Flickr group, where I’ll post these as they are complete. Excited to get going with it.

As always, you need to follow Scott’s work and get ready to buy the big print when the project is finally complete.

This week being Comic-Con week, Scott Johnson over at My Extra Life has a superhero theme going. First it was his reaction to the new Batman costume, then Superman getting his punch spiked by ner’dowells, and now he has the next installment of his Fat Superheroes up for all to see.
