Just so you don’t think we’re only looking at the news from the big two, here’s a roundup of what Dark Horse Comics had to share during their Friday panel.
This week, Dynamite Entertainment has four books arriving in stores that you might want to check out. Take the jump for sneak peeks of Red Sonja #50, The Expendables #3, Kevin Smith’s Kata #2, and the Robert E. Howard Presents: Thulsa Doom trade paperback.
Deadline Hollywood is often dead on when posting rumors, so we’re going to believe the crew over there this time with their announcement that 30-year-old actor Jason Momoa has been cast as Conan in the Lionsgate Millenium Films latest adaptation of the Robert E. Howard’s classic character.
Sources said that director Marcus Nispel was sold on Momoa, and won over the filmmakers by shooting a few trial scenes that allowed Momoa to wield a sword and behave very Schwarzenegger-like. This keeps the film on course for a March 15 production start in Bulgaria
Sounds good to me. Let’s get this project in front of the lens, and then get it in theaters.
I will make it a point to see this movie when it is released.
This movie is looking more and more awesome with each passing day. Check out this pretty creepy sequence from the upcoming Solomon Kane movie, when everyone enters the hall of mirrors.
Check out the international poster for the upcoming Solomon Kane movie. After taking a look at this poster, and seeing the trailer, I really do want to see this film.
IGN has released the official trailer for the Robert E. Howard Solomon Kane movie, and it looks like it will be packed with enough action to draw people in. It certainly looks a lot better than that Traci Lords Princess of Mars movie we saw last week.
According to Fantasy.fr, Paradox Entertainment is set to tackle a new Kull movie. Fredrik Malmberg, Paradox Entertainment’s CEO, broke the news that the Atlantean native will be making his way around Valusia.
Native to Atlantis, Kull grows up with his family in Tiger Valley until a flood wipe his clan out. Another clan bring him up, but he stands up for a woman destined to burn alive and ends up banned from Atlantis. He sails for the continent and take up the mercenary way. He’ll become king, just as Conan will do thousands of years later. Under his influence, Valusia ends up as the most powerful kingdom of the time.
There’s no word when production will begin, or who will play the title character. As I recall, the 1997 Kevin Sorbo movie was not well received.
Arriving in stores this week is Black Terror #5, the Black Terror Volume 1 trade paperback, Blackbeard: The Legend of the Pyrate King #2, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly #5, Robert E. Howard Presents: Thulsa Doom #3, and The Boys Volume 2: Get Some limited edition hardcover, all from Dynamite Entertainment.
