REVIEW: The Sixth Gun #1

My near superhero free week of comic reviews continues with a book that has been around before, and is coming around again. If working in video production for the last 15 years has taught me anything, is that it takes more than once for someone to pay attention to the message. I’m paying attention now.

Scott Pilgrim flick gets official release date

If you haven’t read the complete Scott Pilgrim series written by Bryan Lee O’Malley, and available from Oni Press, then you only have a few more months to get through it all, as Universal Pictures has started the countdown clock to the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie.

The movie studio announced last week that the Edgar Wright film will be released on August 13, 2010.  The film stars Michael Cere, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Evans, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead to name a few.

Sadly, my copies have long since disappeared since there’s one member of the Major Spoilers Crew who “borrowed” the copies and has flat out stated he will not be returning them to me.

Review: You Have Killed Me

YHKMPICON.jpg

While I’m not a die hard film noir fan, I’ve seen my fair share of flicks that feature the duped detective, devious damsels, and dire dilemmas that usually end with someone dying. Whether it is Sam Spade, Philip Marlowe, Dave Bannion, or Jeff Markam, the tales never have a happy ending where the hero rides off into the sunset with the girl.  Oni Press’ You Have Killed Me is no different, and for those who are unfamiliar with the genre, it’s a perfect primer for pulp plotting.
