Superman Returns 2

Variety is reporting that Bryan Singer has inked a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to produce and direct the sequel to Superman Returns. Even though there is no budget or script, the film should hit the screen in 2009. The deal comes shortly after the announcement that Superman Returns passed the $200 million mark domestically. Even though the film has made $390 million world wide, I believe the studio was hoping to make that money in less time. Audiences were split on the like it or hate it factor, with many expecting the movie to have more action than it…

Confirmed: Terrence Howard is Jim Rhodes

Variety has confirmed what we reported on months ago – Terrence Howard will play Tony Stark’s buddy Jim Rhodes in the upcoming Iron Man movie. It’s pretty much accepted that, unless Iron Man turns into a huge bomb in the box office, the franchise and sequel potential is very high. In the comic Jim Rhodes takes over the helm of Iron Man when Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) takes some time off and eventually evolves into the character War Machine. “The suit is purely an innovative creation, so this is Marvel meets Tom Clancy technology,” Marvel Studios production…

While Producer DeSanto is saying Welker is still in the running, it is interesting to see that IMDB.com has already cast him in the role. via ISEB.net (link)

In the interview Snyder says he plans on keeping the story as true as possible, even to the point of keeping the cold war theme running throughout. “We’re getting ready to turn a script that we like into this studio,” says Snyder. “They’re pretty excited about it…I think…

Peter Cullen Interview

USA Today has an interview with Peter Cullen, voice of Optimus Prime. As many of us already know, Cullen was not the first choice to play the part. I (heard) the movie was going to be done, and then I heard rumors that big actors … were being considered for the role. And that’s when I found out about (my) fan base — I was very, very surprised. That’s when I started thinking, “Gee whiz, I hope these guys get what they want. Then I started saying, “Boy, I hope I get it, too!” I finally got a call from…

This is the first action movie for the actor, who is better known for his roles in Good Night, Good Luck, Wonder Boys, Chaplin, and The Singing Detective. Running down his credits at Imdb, the closest thing to flying Downey has down has been when he dangled from a helicopter in Air America. Downey should have no trouble getting into the Stark role, has he has had trouble with sobriety…
