Spider-Man 3 Trailer – Now with More Venom

Many of you weren’t too thrilled when Venom didn’t make an appearance in the Spider-Man 3 trailer I posted last week. Well Web-heads, I did the research and found the San Diego Comic trailer that does include shots of Venom at the end. UPDATE:  As fate would have it, the video has been removed from YouTube (thanks Sony).  But fear not, I still have an image of Venom for you to enjoy.

Slow Day = Transformer Pic

It’s a quiet day in the world of comics.  Matthew has posted a review, and I’m working on one now, but other than a few tidbits here and there, the net and the comic companies are pretty much dead.  So to spice things up, here’s a shot of Optimus Prime in rig mode from the new Transformers movie. via Jalopnik Flickr (link)

Superman Returns 2

Variety is reporting that Bryan Singer has inked a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to produce and direct the sequel to Superman Returns. Even though there is no budget or script, the film should hit the screen in 2009. The deal comes shortly after the announcement that Superman Returns passed the $200 million mark domestically. Even though the film has made $390 million world wide, I believe the studio was hoping to make that money in less time. Audiences were split on the like it or hate it factor, with many expecting the movie to have more action than it…

Grass Roots Films Ltd was launched in January 2005 with the specific purpose of financing and producing “Grass Roots”. Confirmed: Terrence Howard is Jim Rhodes

Variety has confirmed what we reported on months ago – Terrence Howard will play Tony Stark’s buddy Jim Rhodes in the upcoming Iron Man movie. It’s pretty much accepted that, unless Iron Man turns into a huge bomb in the box office, the franchise and sequel potential is very high. In the comic Jim Rhodes takes over the helm of Iron Man when Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) takes some time off and eventually evolves into the character War Machine. “The suit is purely an innovative creation, so this is Marvel meets Tom Clancy technology,” Marvel Studios production…

Frank Welker Still in the Running

According to an interview with Tom DeSanto, Producer on the Transformers movie, Frank Welker is still in the running to play the voice role of Megatron in the upcoming flick.  Fans of the cartoon series will be super happy if this happens, as the original duo (Welker and Peter Cullen) will be reunited in this tale of good versus evil – all in tranforming robot fun! While Producer DeSanto is saying Welker is still in the running, it is interesting to see that IMDB.com has already cast him in the role. via ISEB.net (link)

Watchmen the Movie Update

Empire Online has an interview with Zach Snyder on the status of the Watchmen movie. The flick has been on and off again for many years. In the last attempt the studio even went so far as to put up a working website before the deal collapsed and the site was removed. In the interview Snyder says he plans on keeping the story as true as possible, even to the point of keeping the cold war theme running throughout. “We’re getting ready to turn a script that we like into this studio,” says Snyder. “They’re pretty excited about it…I think…
