It’s being reported that Warner Bros. is in close talks with DC Comics and some of its creators on the direction the movie adaptations of DC characters should take. “While we are not going to go into the specifics of the meetings, we’re constantly looking at how best to exploit the DC Comics characters and properties. After seeing artist Lorin Wood’s concept for Gort, I really don’t want to see the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Seriously, with just a few slight adjustments to the original script, and a few updated special effects, the remake should be a slam dunk.  Instead, Gort looks like a fudged up Cylon Centurion. Take the jump for the image.

As one of the stars of the ABC hit series “Ugly Betty,” Ana Ortiz has enchanted the primetime audience playing Hilda Suarez, big sister to the title character. Today, Ortiz offers fans a 180-degree acting pivot from her most noteworthy role by voicing gritty detective Anna Ramirez in the DC Universe original animated film “Batman Gotham Knight.” The film is available today, July 8, on DVD, Blu-Ray and OnDemand. Ortiz initially auditioned for the same part in “The Dark Knight,” but lost out to Monique Curnen. Her disappointment didn’t last long as casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano took one look at…

While browsing the Interwebs this morning I saw a post talking about the low box office performance of the Incredible Hulk.  2008 is certainly the year of comic book movies, and with the initial praise the film received, I had to check out the facts for myself.

Will Smith’s Hancock landed at the number one spot at the box office this past weekend, bringing in $66 million in ticket sales.  This brings the five day run, including a major holiday weekend,  to $107.3 million. Regardless of what Diddy thought of Hancock, I rather liked it – not as a superhero movie, but as a superhero movie with a major twist that changes the direction and meaning of the whole story.  Apparently, a lot of movie goers thought the movie was good enough to see it too.  Did it have its flaws?  Yes, there were some a few…
