Man, I don’t know what the movie studios and book stores are going to do when the final Harry Potter movie arrives.  Book stores have already seen a drop in overall revenue following the Deathly Hallows release, and while I doubt the movie theaters will suffer the same fate, knowing you won’t be raking in the bucks each holiday season has got to smart. Until the inevitable day, check out the latest trailer for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Let’s play a game of What If?  What if you travelled back to 1988 and convinced Tim Burton that instead of hiring Michael Keaton, he should hire Bill Murray to don the big rubber mask?  It almost happened – apparently, at least that’s the way Bill Murray recounts it in a recent interview with MTV. I would have been a fine Batman. You know, there have been a number of Batmen. I like them. … I thought Mike Keaton did a great job as Batman. It’s obviously — it’s a great role. I could see Bill Murray as Bruce Wayne,…

This YouTube video is making the rounds on the Intrawebs, and while I likes me some fan films, I only like those that are really well done, and approach the subject as that – a film by fans who understand film making.  This Flash trailer has cheesy effects, and the graphic logo is sub-par at best.  In short, if you believe this is the real deal, then I have a Shazam! movie, I’d like you to watch. Defamer has the best wrap up. Until then, why not leave the filmmaking to the professionals and quit trying to set off the…

The last time Leonardo DiCaprio’s name was mentioned in connection with Japanese anime was when his Appian Way production company picked up the rights to adapt Akira.  Leo must like the anime, as he’s snatched up another classic – Ninja Scroll. Ranking alongside “Akira” and “Ghost in the Shell” as one of the most popular animes outside of Japan, “Ninja” is set in feudal Japan and follows a ninja who must fight eight demonic warriors in order to save Japan. The hard-R movie, released in 1993 in Japan, featured a villain with stone skin, a hunchback with a wasp nest…

Seth Green, the creator of the Top Cow series, The Freshmen, is planning on directing the big screen adaptation of the series. “You know, it’ll probably need a studio for release. My estimation is to make this movie the way we want to make it, we’ll need independent financing. But the nice thing about independent financing is, you know, a small-budget film is $35 million these days. And that’s about what we’d need to make it.” The flick is currently in the script writing stage.  If this movie makes it out of PrePro Hell, this will be Green’s second job…

Last night at the 2008 Scream Awards, Charles Roven, producer of the Dark Knight movie, let slip a little bit about the happenings at Warner and DC titles. Roven also told us that there is “no momentum” on comic book adaptation The Flash at Warner Bros. Pictures. That’s so sad for David Dobkin who was slated to direct the flick. With the confusion at the studio, most superhero films are going to be put on hold until Warner figures out if it wants to tell individual stories that build the the Justice League or a Justice League movie that spins…

News last week that Don Cheadle was replacing Terrence Howard in the Iron Man sequel probably didn’t suprise anyone more than Terrence Howard. It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. [The contract] just…up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren’t worth the paper that they’re printed on, sometimes. Promises aren’t kept, and good faith negotiations aren’t always held up. That’s Howard in an interview with NPR this past weekend. Having been on the short end of contracts…

I’m not a big fan of spooky eyes Dakota Fanning, but this trailer for Push has me wanting to head to the theaters…providing it isn’t a rip off of Jumper. [quicktime width=”640″ height=”275″]http://movies.apple.com/movies/summit/push/push-tlr1_h.640.mov[/quicktime]

While I like the look of the poster, I’m sad.  Not because many are worried Frank Miller is taking a dump on Will Eisner’s creation, but because the latest poster only features Gabriel Macht, and none of the hot ladies from the upcoming Spirit movie. via Cinema Blend

Dark or not, Green Lantern is well into production, and in an interview with MTV, Marc Guggenheim gave the low down on what Green Lantern stories inspired the movie. “Certainly ‘Emerald Dawn’ was one of the things that we read at the outset,” said Guggenheim when asked about the connection between spoiler and screenplay. Of course, looking to “Dawn” only reveals one piece of the puzzle. Also included will be characterization from the 1970’s Neal Adams/Denny O’Neil comics dealing with drug use and other social issues, the Dave Gibbons era, and we might also see elements from Geoff Johns recent…

The Henson Company has picked up the rights to move ahead with a movie based on the Happytime Murders novel.  The best part is the movie is not going to be targeted toward the young set, but will be an adult themed movie. Written by Todd Berger from a story by Dee Austin Robertson and Berger, the story takes place in a world where humans and puppets co-exist, with the puppets viewed as second-class citizens. When the puppet cast of an ’80s children’s TV show called “The Happytime Gang” begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private…
