If you thought the G.I. Joe movie looked ridiculous, just wait until you see the first trailer for the Steve Oedekerk Stretch Armstrong movie.  Stretch Armstrong?  I remember that guy! “This is a new well from which to draw intellectual properties that bring a pre-awareness and nostalgia,” Schneir said. “They are drawing filmmakers who find a real emotional connection and resonance, and this is proving to be a compelling driver for motion pictures.” The toy from the 70’s also featured a monster, a dog, and an evil twin brother.  The last time a Stretch Armstrong movie tried to get made,…

When an announced movie moves out of the script stage, and the rumors of who will star settle down, I actually start paying more attention to the press releases, when the director is finally attached.  Such is the case with the Warner Bros. DC Comics Green Lantern movie, which has just announced Martin Campbell is in negotiations to helm the superhero flick. The emergence of Campbell, who also helmed two “Zorro” films and the 007 film “GoldenEye,” puts “Green Lantern” at the top of DC properties being set for movie treatment by WB. While the studio is hoping director Chris…

Why haven’t we seen any more Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movies in a while?  The rights reverted back to game creator Eidos a few years ago and apparently there has been a bidding war over which studio would pick up the franchise.  The Hollywood Reporter is noting Time Warner invested more money into the game company, which included the film rights.  Now the studio is trying to put something together for the next generation of movie goers. The new project, however, is expected to revamp the character and her mission and bear little resemblance to the original pictures. It will…
