More promotional posters for the upcoming Kick-Ass movie are popping up all over the Intardwebz.  The latest features Chris Mintz-Plasse as The Red Mist. I’ve only read a few issues of the series, but from what I’ve seen in the comic and in the trailer, I can’t wait to see what Matthew Vaugh does with Mark Millar’s comic book. via Ain’t It Cool News

If Sex In the City fans were confused over their see-saw love affair with Chris Noth’s Mr. Big, comics fans will endure an equal amount of trepidation over Noth’s latest performance – as the voice of a “good” Lex Luthor – in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, an all-new DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movie coming February 23, 2010 from Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. I still don’t know how to feel about the now classic Karate Kid movie being remade with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Work pressures cause a single mother moves to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces karate, taught to him by a master of the self-defense form. For me, nothing will beat the memory of watching the movie while sitting in the front row, when it first came out.  If you are curious, there are a few more official pictures after the jump.

It’s been a long standing tradition to change the name of a movie in production to keep prying eyes away from the sensitive/spoiler content of the film.  George Lucas did it with Star Wars and Blue Harvest, and it looks like Marvel is doing the same thing with the Captain America film currently scheduled to begin lensing in June of 2010. Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty…

USA Today has the first pic of Harry Potter and friends from the upcoming movie based on the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. I think the biggest concern most will have with this film is it will be broken into two parts, the first arriving in November 2010, and the second half in November 2011.  When you have a fine franchise like the one J.K. Rowling created, making it last as long as possible is certainly understandable. via USA Today

Disney might have something in its return to the Tron universe with Tron Legacy, but I wonder what will happen with the remake of the Black Hole?  The producing/directing team of Joseph Kosinksi and Sean Baily, along with writer Travis Beacham plan to re-imagine the 1979 Disney special effects spectacular. The details of the update are being kept secret, though the take does involve grounding the story in the science of a black hole, much more so than in the original. Maximilian also would return. With Maximilian returning, there’s bound to be a few friendly robots in tow – that…

The YouTube boom is great as it allows us to see the best and the worst of what people are doing creatively.  On one hand you might end up with the crappiest crap you’ve ever crapped, but then there are videos that end up with a huge following that start memes, or land someone a high profile job.  The latest success is Fede Alvarez, a Uruguayan commercials director, who has been tapped to direct a full length motion pictured based on his short film Panic Attack. The film has been picked up by Ghost House Pictures, which is run by…

Fans of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit movie are going to have to wait a little longer. According to Peter Jackson, filming will now begin towards the middle of 2010. “We’re currently working on the second script which we hope to have completed by the end of this year or beginning of next. When the scripts are completed, we can begin with the exact calculation of the necessary budget. We hope to start filming in the middle of next year. However, we’ve received no green light from the studio yet.” Perhaps MGM’s money problems will affect The Hobbit after all. With the…

There’s a lot about Star Wars we don’t know about; things left unsaid, information only found in the comic books, but not on the big screen, or simply scenes that were cut from the final release.  Here’s one of those bits featuring Han Solo and his girlfriend.  It’s a short bit, and if you blink, you just might miss it.
