Being from the wilds of Kansas, I have a particular regional view of my comics. The Hulk fought Spider-Man in Kansas City, rather than Denver or Noo Yawk, I never see the Bronze Age regional 35-cent variants, and it’s damn near impossible to find late 60′s alternative rarities like witzend or the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. That said, I have heard rumblings of the Golden Age of Canadian comics, names like Freelance, Nelvana of the Northern Lights, and Johnny Canuck, but they’ve never made it down to my neck of the woods. (Some might question my ability to even FIND Canadia, given my state’s notoriety in terms of education.) Those heroes are back, thanks to Moonstone Publishing, giving us an entryway into the Golden Age of the Great White North, and it’s time to hit the trail for some comics history that’s esoteric even for ME. I’ve been looking forward to this one…

Moonstone Books announces orginal sci-fi series

Moonstone Entertainment, Inc., a leading publisher of comics and books, has just signed a contract to publish an epic science fiction project called NEUTRAL WORLD, as created by well known comic and pulp writer Ron Fortier and comic superstar artist, Joe Bennett.
Bennett, a self-taught Brazilian artist, entered the field in the early 1990s and soon became one of the most sought after talents in comics. His fantastic pencils and inks have graced dozens of titles both at Marvel and DC and there are very few iconic superheroes he has not worked on in his amazing career. Today, along with his current assignments for the DC, he operates a studio in his hometown of Belem, which is where NEUTRAL WORLD was first conceived.

Rotton named Best New or Mini Series for 2010

Moonstone Entertainment, Inc. announces that the wildly eclectic, genre busting comic ‘ROTTEN’ from writers Mark Rahner and Robert Horton and Artist Dan Dougherty continues to receive accolades and notice, this time from writers at the Comic Book Bin (http://www.comicbookbin.com/). Writers for the comic book centered site instituted their own awards this year. Calling them ‘The Binnies’, writers established several comic book oriented categories and then chose the winners for each category. ROTTEN was named as one of the six winners of Best New or Mini Series for 2010. Comic Book Bin writer Pat Oliver selected the Moonstone title for this recognition and wrote-

Captain Action meets The Phantom in Moonstone hardcover
Moonstone Books has announced it is collecting the two issue mini-series featuring The Phantom and Captain Action into a hardcover collection that arrives in stores this week (November 24, 2010).
