There were rumors floating around last week that Wizard World’s Gareb Shamus was going to buy Mid-Ohio-Con, and now that rumor has been confirmed as Shamus makes it official. “The acquisition of Mid-Ohio-Con gives us an even stronger presence in the key Midwest market,” said Shamus. “We are excited to have the opportunity to build from the great foundation of Mid-Ohio-Con, which has consistently delivered the best in comics, celebrity and pop culture entertainment for 30 years running.” Wizard World Mid-Ohio-Con has announced that Adam West, Burt Ward, and Rob Liefeld have already been announced as guests for the 2011
This year, I was able to attend Mid-Ohio Con, and once again, it was an absolute blast. I was able to meet a lot of great independent comics’ creators, I got the chance to thank writer Kurt Buesick for getting be back into comics with his mid-90’s run on The Avengers, I even snuck a far-away picture of Lou Ferrigno. The Mid-Ohio-Con announced that famed artist Adam Hughes has joined the guest list of big names that will be appearing at the comic book convention. Adam began working in comics in 1985 at the age of 19 and in 1989 he started on his first mainstream comic title with DC’s Justice League. He worked on the book for almost 2 years, doing covers and interiors until 1990, then switching to just supplying artwork for the covers. The organizers of the Mid-Ohio-Con have announced that Michael Golden has joined the growing list of guests who will be at the show. During his career, Golden has been an editor at DC Comics as well as senior art director at Marvel Comics, and has worked on numerous movie production projects, including some currently in development.
