CONVENTION: Aspen Comics announces MagaCon plans

Aspen Comics will be appearing at this year’s MegaCon on March 15th-17th, and will be offering a special “10 for 10” exclusive cover for their debut appearance at the show. Aspen creators Frank Mastromauro (Shrugged, Dellec), Peter Steigerwald (Soulfire, Fathom), and Jonathan Marks (Shrugged) will be meeting fans, signing books and providing sketches at the Aspen Comics Booth all weekend long.

It may seem like 2011 is a long way off, but believe me, it will be here before we know it.  And in March, MegaCon returns once again to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.  The convention organizers have announced their first lineup of guests from the comic book, media and other places.

MegaCon announces 2010 guest lineup

The Orlando MegaCon, the largest comic book multi media event in the Southeast is pleased to make its initial announcement of guests for its 2010 convention. MegaCon will take place March 12th – 14th, 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Archie Comics at Wonder Con and MegaCon

If you happen to be going to one of the two comic book conventions happening this week, you’ll be able to see an Archie Comics presense at both.

Making its fifth annual appearance at WonderCon, this year’s Secret Origin of Good Readers panel features Dr. Robyn A. Hill (National University, San Diego), Mimi Cruz (Night Flight Comics, Salt Lake City), Bill Galvan (co-creator/artist of The Scrapyard Detectives, artist for Archie Comics), plus additional speakers to be added. The panelists will discuss how teachers, librarians, retailers, and publishers can work together to bring comic books into the classroom for use as an innovative and motivating cross-curricular teaching tool and a vehicle for promoting reading and literacy.

Though a multimedia presentation, personal remarks, and a question-and-answer session, the speakers will present an overview of the medium and highlight specific ways that comic books and graphic novels have been used to engage a variety of learners.
