The Iron Patriot Ends the Marvel U

I doubt the coming event in the 616 is going to be as universe ending as in Ultimate universe, but Norman Osborn is set to reveal is master plan for Marvel in 2010, and it begins with The List series.

The List. This eight-issue limited series, comprised of eight double-sized specials, leads Marvel fans to the changes in store for the world’s most popular super heroes! The Iron Patriot decides there are things wrong with the world, things that need to be handled and when he’s done, the stage is set for the biggest comic book event of the next decade! It all begins in September with the first three The List issues—Avengers, Daredevil and X-Men!

Art Appreciation Moment of the Day: Mike Wieringo

I didn’t intend it, but this week turned into a Women of the Marvel Universe themed Art Appreciation Moment of the Day.  Thought it would be fitting to end the week with the first lady of Marvel – Sue Storm done by the late great Mike Wieringo.

Review: Dark Avengers #7

Or – “At What Point Did Cyclops Become Bad-A$$?”

So, there’s a war brewing in San Francisco, with the mutants on one side, and a cadre of “reformed” villains led by Norman Osborn on the other side, as well as a rogue faction in the form of Emma Frost’s Dark X-Men.  Norman Osborn is counting on his position with the government to give him the edge he needs to put down Scott Summers and his people as easily as he put down Tony Stark and the Avengers.  Of course, Tony Stark didn’t spend his entire teen and adult life as an outcast and an outlaw, and Tony Stark has seldom been the one with his back to the wall.  (Tony Stark also doesn’t have big red eye-lasers comin’ outta his face, but, anyway…  Bygones.)

Marvel unveils new Fantastic Four logo

Marvel sent over the new logo that will be adorning the cover of the Fantastic Four covers beginning with #570.  In the words of Rodrigo, “I like it”.  It works for a four member team, but let’s hope they don’t try to do the same thing with The Avengers.

Review: Captain America #601

Or – “How Do You Follow Up A Huge Anniversary Issue?”

Some people would go with a high-speed storyline rocketing you into the future, showing the new direction and showcasing what the new character(s) are going to be doing.  Marvel took a different approach with this issue, looking backward to the original Captain America in a World War II setting.  Question is:  does it WORK?
