Unthinkable headed to the big screen

Boom! Studios has announced that the Mark Sable created mini-series Unthinkable has been optioned by Mandalay Pictures to be turned into a feature film.

“Unthinkable” centers on a brilliant man who was recruited just after 9/11 into a government think tank consisting of America’s most imaginative minds and tasked with dreaming up wild scenarios for possible attacks on U.S. soil. Years after the think tank was disbanded, the attacks the man concocted begin to occur, and he becomes the only one who can stop them. But the government has become his pursuer.

We’ve covered the series since it first debuted, and commented early on that this was a story that was perfect for a big screen adaptation.   This is the sixth Boom! Studios title that has been optioned for a motion picture.

Yes, Mark Sable was detained by HLS

Unthinkable is one mind trip of a series, the kind I’ve come to expect from Boom! Studios. For those tuning into the late night conspiracy radio programs, or trolling around the conspiracy boards, the doomsday scenarios spelled out in this series don’t come as a surprise.  What does make this issue different is how Mark Sable is able to make all of them fit together into the ultimate end of days book.

If one disaster is bad, then more disasters are… disastrous

unthinkable2picon.jpg

Mark Sable began the overthrow of the planet and the beginning of the New World Order in the first issue of Boom! Studios Unthinkable.  While things looked bleak as a new plague swept across the world, issue #2 is downright depressing as the secret government goes after a few more targets.

Review: Unthinkable #1

Unthinkable_01_picon.jpg

There have been many unthinkable acts carried out by agencies and forces bent on instilling fear in their enemies.  But what if the enemy we think we know, is really the friend we thought we knew?  And what if those friends took our ideas and did something unthinkable with them?  That’s the premise behind the latest thriller from Boom! Studios, and darn it, if it doesn’t strike a little close to home.

Mark Sable Detained After TSA Discovers Unthinkable Script

This is why I don’t carry my copy of the Illuminatus! Trilogy on board planes anymore.  If this is the real deal, things have gotten really strange in this country.  Check out the press release Boom! Studios sent to us about Mark Sable getting held up by the TSA after they discovered his script for Unthinkable.

From the press release:

Comics writer Mark Sable was detained by TSA security guards at LAX this past weekend when they discovered inflammatory material in a script for Sable’s new BOOM Studios miniseries UNTHINKABLE. The comic series follows members of a government think tank that was tasked with coming up with 9/11-type “unthinkable” terrorist scenarios that now are coming true.

Sable was detained while traveling from LAX to NYC to attend a signing for the premiere of UNTHINKABLE #1 at Jim Hanley’s Universe this Wednesday, May 13th.

Fans and friends were made aware of the TSA detention when Sable “Twittered” about the events at twitter.com/marksable, after he was released.
