Major Spoilers Question Of The Day: Victoria And Ted Memorial Edition

The upcoming wedding of Northstar and Kyle (known to the paparazzi as “Northstyle”) has made me all nostalgic for past superhero weddings, and couples who probably SHOULD have gotten married, but for whatever reason, never did.  (At least Paul Levitz had the decency to put Blok and Mysa together again.)

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wants to have and to hold, love, honor and obey, asking:  Which pop-culture couple (retconned or unretconned) is your favorite?

TOP TEN: Top Ten Northstar Moments

Or – “His Original Costume Is The Only One That Isn’t Awful…”

With the recent announcement that Jean-Paul “Northstar” Beaubier would marry his long-time (you should excuse the expression) beau, Kyle, I started thinking about the long and illustrious career of Canada’s fastest man alive.  From his earliest days with Alpha Flight to his current stay on Utopia, Jean-Paul has a long and storied career of heroism, haughty attitude and terrible costumes, but I imagine many of us only know him as Marvel’s first openly-gay superhero.  Seems to me that it’s time to right that particular wrong…

Major Spoilers Question Of The Day: Electric Boogaloo Edition

During a recent Major Spoilers podcast, Stephen and I got to talking about sequels, and how there are those who believe that the delayed ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ might be a better movie than ‘Rise of Cobra’ was.  It started us thinking about sequels, prequels, and the various iterations of movie-going magic.

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wants to save the youth center, asking:  Are there sequels that you like better than their predecessors?  (And, no, Episodes I-III don’t count.)

Major Spoilers Podcast #414: The Last Podcaster

In this issue: Bending air, G.I. Joe delayed, Youngblood does something, and Star Trek and Doctor Who team up to fight the metal men (but not THOSE Metal Men).

Major Spoilers Question Of The Day: Black Widow’s Big Break Edition

A night or so ago, I was watching late-night cable and happened upon the David Arquette giant monster vehicle, “Eight-Legged Freaks.”  I was a bit startled to see Scarlett Johansson as a seventeen-year-old, playing Kari Wuhrer’s daughter (briliant bit of casting, I might add.)  For some reason, my mind wanted to believe that Scarlett’s first movie was Ghost World, but checking her history, it seems that she has been working in films since 1995′s ‘North.’  That movie was pretty much awful, but thinking about it started a train of thought in my head…

The MS-QOTD is a test of your memory:  What other actors’ early film roles (the goofier and more embarrassing the better) have most people forgotten about?

Major Spoilers Question Of The Day: The Best There Is At What I Do Edition

Crossovers and guest stars have long been a staple of comics, but these days it seems you can’t swing a cat in a comic shop without hitting a guest appearance by certain characters.  (Actually, comic-shop-cat-swinging is disallowed for any number of reasons, from animal cruelty to claw-damaged-back issues, but…  Bygones.)  Though Wolverine may be the quintessential example, Batman, Spider-Man and others have also reached a level of saturation where they’re just plain EVERYWHERE.  Call it overexposure, call it supply and demand, but however you slice it, you’ll probably find a Logan cameo somewhere in the mix…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is a matter of foresight: If you got to CHOOSE who became the “Next Big Thing,” (with all the baggage, positive and negative, that comes with that status) what character would you choose and why?

Major Spoilers Question Of The Day: Cross-Pollination And Corporate Synergy Edition

In a recent Major Spoilers Podcast, I got to eat a little crow regarding my assumption that Marvel couldn’t create the same sort of “shared universe” as their comics with their various movie projects.  Still, even after that successful adaptation, I have a stubborn voice in my head telling me that an adaptation that DOESN’T suck is the exception to the rule.  For every ‘Avengers,’ it seems there are three critical failures, be they a live-action Underdog, a comic adaptation of Family Guy or a cartoon version of American Beauty.

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is your chance to play king-maker:
What property would you choose to adapt and to what medium would you adapt it to convince me that I’m wrong?

(For our theoretical purposes, assume that you have financing and that getting the rights aren’t an issue.)

Major Spoilers Podcast #413: May I License Your Multiverse?

Major Spoilers Podcast 413

In this issue: The show stars with some talk about Young Justice and The Legend of Kora, but turns to a discussion of what a company might do with their characters from the multiverse.
