Dynamite Entertainment sent Major Spoilers the cover images and solicitation information for titles arriving in September 2011.

Gore Verbinski’s take on The Lone Ranger rides into theaters on December 21, 2012, according to H’wood. The film stars Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger, and Johnny Depp as Tonto, that Verbinski describes as “a sort of Don Quixote told from Sancho Panza’s point of view.”
December 2012 will be a busy month for movie goers as The Lone Ranger will be released around the same time as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Life of Pi.
As we mentioned a few weeks ago, Armie Hammer has been hired to play John Reid (a.k.a. The Lone Ranger) in Jerry Bruckheimer’s Lone Ranger flick.
Since “Justice League” was jettisoned because of the WGA strike and for creative reasons, Hammer came to be known instead for his role as the Winklevoss twins in Sony’s “The Social Network.” He recently landed a gig as the prince in Relativity Media’s “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” (Julia Roberts will play the evil queen) and recently wrapped a supporting role, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hoover biopic for Warner Bros. and Imagine Entertainment
Hammer is young enough to bring in the money spending crowd, and under the mask, I’m sure he’ll convince others, that the western genre is still alive and well.

According to Variety, The Social Network’s Armie Hammer is in negotiations to play the Lone Ranger in the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer adaptation. If hired to play the man behind the mask, Hammer will join Johnny Depp who has been hired to play Tonto.
The Lone Ranger script is by Justin Haythe, while the movie will be directed by Gore Verbinski.

Zorro is dead, the villains are holed up in an abandoned mission, and have made the local Indian tribe their servants. This would certainly be a downer of a story if The Lone Ranger weren’t involved.

Tales of the old west have always been a fascination and for those who grew up in the Good Ole Days, the adventures of Zorro and the Lone Ranger thrilled audiences – even though the two never existed in the same time period. Official and semi-official timelines of the characters make it hard to believe their paths would have ever crossed, but what if The Lone Ranger was around during Don Diego’s last adventure?

Jerry Bruckheimer, yes THAT Jerry Bruckheimer, Tweated about the soft launch of the new Jerry Bruckheimer Films website (www.jbfilms.com), and for the 40,000 or so followers who took the bait, they discovered the logo for the upcoming Lone Ranger movie.
I like the mix of old school Lone Ranger feel with the Bruckheimer vibe thrown in the background. Hopefully the movie is rockin.
