KICKSTARTER: My Little Pony artist launches campaign for World of Gloomvania toys

The undead/creepy/bizarre toy craze has been going on for over a decade, and now that toys like Ugly Dolls, The Living Dead Dolls, and Mattel’s Monster High dolls are going strong, creators are looking for the next big thing. “My Little Pony” storybook illustrator Gayle Middleton, who in 2005 redesigned Hasbro’s Littlest Pet Shop toy line, thinks she may have found it, and is Kickstarter to launch the new line.

VARIANT: Elizabeth Torque provide Mercy Sparx #1 Kickstarter variant cover

Devil’s Due Entertainment is doing a Kickstarter campaign to bring back the Mercy Sparx series. The campaign is halfway to its goal with only 10 days left, and to incentivise the drive, Devil’s Due tapped Elizabeth Torque to whip up a variant cover for backers and retailers, but we’ve got a full look, after the jump.

KICKSTARTER: Runners campaign launches

The second volume of the highly acclaimed sci-fi comic Runners is now a graphic novel campaign on Kickstarter.com. Originally posting the action comedy about alien smugglers online as a free webcomic at www.runnersuniverse.com, creator Sean Wang now hopes to raise funding to print the new story, Runners: The Big Snow Job, as a full color graphic novel.

KICKSTARTER: Cowboys & Engines to kick of steampunk western film genre

James Deen, star of Bret Easton Ellis and Paul Schrader’s upcoming film, “The Canyons,” is onto another project.  To make it happen, he is taking to popular fundraising platform KickStarter.com.  Deen is producing “Cowboys & Engines,” a short film by writer / director Bryn Pryor, and he is taking   The future festival piece is an exciting steampunk western starring Jeff Cannata (“The Totally Rad Show”) and Walter Koenig (“Star Trek,” “Babylon 5″).

KICKSTARTER: Thrilling Adventure Hour launches campaign for graphic novel

Creators Ben Acker and Ben Blacker have teamed up with Quixotic Transmedia to produce a Kickstarter campaign for The THRILLING ADVENTURE HOUR, the popular stage show and Nerdist Industries podcast. Running from October 8, 2012 to November 7, 2012, the 30-day campaign aspires to usher the hit show into multiple forms of media including a graphic novel, motion comic, web series, and concert film.

KICKSTARTER: The Goon Animated Movie seeks fan funding

For years we’ve seen the Goon animated movie trailer floating around the Intardwebz with the hopes that Eric Powell’s characters would finally get H’wood money to make the movie a reality.  Well, H’wood isn’t going to fork over the funds, so Blur Studio, Powell, David Fincher, and Dark Horse Comics are headed to Kickstarter to get the project off the ground.

NYCC’12: Kickstarter to appear at convention

We’ve featured Kickstarter projects again and again (and again) on this site, and there is a reason for that – there are many great small and indie projects that are trying to get off the ground and the site is a great central location to organize a campaign.  Kickstarter will appear at the upcoming New York Comic-Con to spread the message about the company, and tell creators how it can help them.
